Default Your funniest 40k moment?

It can be anything

For me:

First day of actually playing 40k, someone lets me use a chaos army in the middle of a game vs this really proud and cocky SM player

After a breef description of who and how could shoot/attack i choose my weapons, my target, roll some dice and a few bouncy rolls and boring counts later i find out i actually hit something to my surprise i managed to break the morale of the most expensive SM squad on the table that happened to be really close to the sides...

The other guy goes all fuzzy, measures 4 times, moves his men... and then starts packing them

I was seriously left in the blue at that point

That`s when i found out the link between little plastic man and herd animals, they both jump of off cliffs in large numbers with no real reason

I know it doesn`t sound like much, but the look on the guys face after loosing a whole squad to someone who didn`t even knew why some dices have strange markings on them instead of numbers was pretty damn funny

That and the fact that all his buddies wouldn`t give him a break for the rest of the day :P

funniest moment: 1 genestealer penetrated a LRC, annihilated it, 6" explosion. half of the things inside, a pimped out command squad, died. a 5 man CC scout squad nearby was also wiped out. my only casualty: the genestealer. BEST. MOMENT. EVER!

When a friends squad of Imperial Guardsmen took down my Abbadon with Lasguns. Is this really possible? I think he cheated.

not funny per se but amusing for sure.

1 battlecannon taking out a 500 point honour guard with jump packs a looong time ago in 3rd edition.

also, back in 2nd edition, my mate used to always have a commissar with jump pack and vortex greande hed use to chace arounf my lictor/hive tyrant/carnifex. 90% of the time the grenade would scatter onto the commissar killing him. it never put him off trying to use the tactic though! that was funny. it was almost a waste of time rolling the scatter dice - we knew it had an attraction to him!

There have been so many it is hard to choose. I'll go with my first 3rd edition memory. Game first comes out all of my friends are playing at once to test it out. My friend was using Chaos and wasn't ready for the difference in the game rules. I wipe him out by turn 3 except for his Chaos Lord. We hadn't gotten to see hand to hand yet so I engaged him. How many Guardsmen does it take to kill a cracked out Chaos Lord. Answer is 60: 40 of them die. Also the Chaos Lord needs some luck with his armor saves.

Funniest moment would have to be when I first started and used a vindicator in a loner army from a friend to lob a shell onto a monolith and it stayed on target and 6ed it then my friends ig demo squad launched the demo charge and it landed in my termies and none saved I was laughin my ass off cause I was just happy to play in such a big game for the first time. btw that was 5yrs ago.... I know I know shhhh

a few years ago, back at the tail end of 3rd edition - two of my mates were playing, Dark Eldar against Tau.

In turn 2, the DE Wych squad mounted in a raider moves up to, dismounts and assaults a squad of 12 Fire Warriors.

They kill all but one of the Fire Warriors, taking no losses. The lone Fire Warrios fails his morale, but the wyches consolidate rather than chase him down.

In turn three they mount up again and the raider moves a short distance (using its splinter cannon to fire on some Kroot).

In the Tau turn the lone fire warrior somehow manages to regroup and takes a pot-shot at the tail end of the raider.

The fire warrior proceeds to score a penetrating hit and makes the raider explode. Killing all but one of the 10 Wyches.

Best moment of revenge ever!

My funniest moment...
My librarian (Back when i was SM) was in constant battle with a Chaos Sorcerer (It was me vs Orks and Chaos) And it seemed like me and my opponent were both having the most unlucky dice rolls. For 3 turns, neither did anything to each other. Eventually, he retreated his Sorcerer and left the librarian to his allies Ork Warboss and Nobz. (I can't remember the name of the spell, but it does something to pull dudes into the warp) I used that and scored a hit. Right on top of the Warboss and 5 Nobz. BOOOOOOOOM, bye bye. And then, after all that combat between the two psykers, the librarian got killed by.. *Cries* a Normal, god damn Shoota Boy. And the sorcerer? Ripped to pieces by my Razorback. lol

When I first started really playing I went to a local hobby shop and asked someone to do a quick squad match with me to get basics down. We both had 5 chaos marines with bolters and 1 heavy bolter, and I creamed him in one turn, got good dice rolls. What made it great was the dude had been playing 40k for 5+ years.

way back in the days of 2nd ed i was a member of a club who met every sunday, and there was this guy who said that he'd never lost a game of 40k in his life. so i told him to put his money where his mouth was and we arranged a game, his chaos army lead by none other than abaddon versus my imperial guard.

second turn he decides that it would be a tactically sound idea to teleport abby and his terminator homies down in front of my entire army and shoot instead of charge! my next turn the entire squad disappears under a mountain of lasgun fire and a whole hill full of heavy weapons. the rest of his army followed suit the turn after that. he conseeded the game on his turn 4 with only a champ on a juggernaught on his last wound remaining.

that was a good day to be in the guard

There now follows a brief commercial:

We here at the tacticians office recommend ordering an entire platoon to fire everything at them. If you have surplus, then why not use two platoons just to be sure?"

Default Back in the day...

When i first was introduced to 40k I was not a player, but a mere watcher. (It's an expensive habit)

Well my friends decided they wanted to put me in the game so once in a while they would let me roll a dice and if I got a three I blew up the whole planet and the game ended.

Lets just say it never happened. And then one day it did. Well the whole room burst into ahhhhhhh and ohhhh and that was it. I won my first 40k match.

Similar to the chaos lord, how many guardsmen does it take to kill a wolf lord on a bike?

my friend decides 30 should be enough, and charges me with 20 after i assault 10. all 30 of them end up dying or running. I assume my lord was in the middle of the mass of guardsmen, pulling donuts on his bike with his Frostblade held out

ok this didn't actually happen to me but i did see it. again in 2nd ed, eldar against nids, a lone support weapon crewman holding nothing but a box fended off a hive tyrant for the better part of 4 turns in cc and actually managed to wound the thing before the game ended. next game he was used as a stand-in farseer in honour of this amazing feat of bare fist fighting!

Rofl! that is a great image!

My best and funniest moment had to be this... Under odl Chaos codex...

Daemon prince with stature, wings,. dread axe, daemon armor, mark of slaanesh, daemonic aura, combat drugs

VS

Avatar of Khaine

3 rounds of brutal, bloody combat involving a dead squad of banshess trying to assist and being slaughtered.

The avatar wins, with only one wound taken. It is my fiancees first match, so she trash talks a bit, etc.. She has actually trounced me really well.

I figure, oh well, wtf, I got nothing that can kill it now, lets just tie it up, try to win VP wise..

So I roll up in a rhino with a 6 man squad of CC Mark of Slaanesh boys., 13" away. I am good at eyeballing.

I take a pot shot from the rhinos combi bolter, nothing, but it pissed her off and she charges her avatar forward, to fail to know the distance.

Next turn, my squad, with aspiring champion toting a power weapon, doom siren, and bolt pistol w/ five cronies (bp & CCW) charges in. I think I actually hollered a warcry...

I take the damn thing down to one wound left, the rest of my squad dies. Next turn, I hit first due to doom siren.. And I kill it! My lone aspiring champion takes out the damn Avatar! He now has the words 'I killed and Avatar' painted on his base, and he will be the last model in the army I paint, and I will take the most time on him!

I watched this battle:

A nid warrior and a BT Emperor's Champion just sat in combat, scoring no hits for three turns in a row... it was priceless.

My space marines against BT

I destory all but one of a crusader squad. The remaining man has a Plasma Gun. I shoot him again (I think... not sure), and miss...

Then... he blows himself up... which, both me and my friend predicted would happen anyways...

We made a story about him being the "stupid" space marine... and getting so angry when his battle-brothers fell down dead around him so he didn't notice the beeping overheating signal... blowing him up...

another from me:

back in the early days of 3rd edition my local hobby store (where i worked at the time) organised a campaign to get interest in the new crappy rules up.

we got a fair few players

one of the eary games had a world eater army assaulting an IG fortress.

the first squad of berzerkers got into combat with a unit of guardsmen.

after the first round, the guardsmen were downto two guys - berzerkers hadnt lost a man

by the end of the game those two guardsmen had wiped out the the KB unit!
