| The Dark Apostle ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | i got to thinking about this when i witnessed 2 people argueing about if one guy could use his flyers what is the reasonable thign to do when someone asks if they can use it? i usually say no if its a superheavy whatever or flyer, but something like a dreadnaught with a FW inferno cannon, thats fine. as long as i can deal with whatever youre throwin at me, its cool. but if someone wants to use a flyer, i dont have any antiaircraft type things, and they dont cost that much so its not a big hunk of points taken away. likewise with superheavies. in no army, even my very shooty SM army, i dont have enough anti tank to take down a baneblade and its leman russ cohorts. what do you guys do? any thoughts?

| The Omnissiah ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I think you would simply have to reach some kind of agreement. Anyway, i bet its always funny to see the look on your opponents face when he finds his pretty baneblade has just been blown up. Also, whats this about anti-aircraft. What weapons apart from hydra flack cannons are anti-aircraft?

| well, if someone were to simply show up looking for a pick-up game on vet's night and all of a sudden they spring a baneblade or other super heavy on me, i'd no doubt be inclined to argue that my opponent can't use it! super heavies are usually meant for huge games and/or fun senarios and such - not to be included as a major surprise advantage! flyers on the other hand aren't really that bad... sure you only ever hit them on a 6 (unless you have an AA mount!) but overall they're not that over powered... (best idea is to simply ignore it! a flyer can claim/hold objectives for example unless it has VTOL hover mode or similar - at which point it's a sitting duck! )most forgeworld stuff i see is also codex-legal stuff anyways! it's just that most players who can get their hands on it, perfer the much more finely detailed resin models! (and honestly, who hear doesn't want some forgeworld stuff for their vehicles!) cheers!

Personally, I agree with DeAd_cOmMaNdO - if your opponenet asks you before you've selected your armylist, they should be able to. Just have an anti-aircraft/baneblade list at hand ![]()

| The Dark Apostle ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | when i went to the vets night were i play yesterday, someone came up with an interesting solution. bring something for your opponent to use! he wanted to use 3 flyers, a valkyrie and a 2 maurauders. i was going to say no, but then he brought out 2 whirlwind hyperios, saying i could use them! those are the standard anti-arcraft tank for space marines, which is what i was using. he painted them as adeptus mechanicus models, saying that its like they knew that the enemy was using alot of aircraft and sent these tanks as support. i thought that this was an interesting solution to the problem, and if i ever got some flyers i would do this also. i thought it was a good, unique solution. if you play xenos though, it would be kind of odd with a space marine tank next to your carnifex, but if you play against imperium alot, i would suggest this. by the way, they were very good in shooting down the flyers. i brought down the marauders be fore they could inflict too many casualties, but the valkryie landed its karskin before i could bring it down.

| that's always a good way of evening up the odds - giving your opponent something with an AA mount ![]() still, flyers are more of an annoyance if anything! if you do get lucky and hit it, more than likely the flyer is at least going to be chased off before it can fire... imperial navy flyers are for the most rather over-priced for what they can do! with only BS3 and alot of their weapons being one-shot hunter-killer rockets, they're not that deadly cheers!
