GW not making money?

i need to get my game room set up. i have a shop in the back of my house that is all mine. the camaro has claimed the front portion of the shop but there is a 8'X16' room in the back that is already declared the gaming room i just need to set it up. and on another note we all knew what we were getting into with this game when we signed up, on the plus side for me i know that i have spent less money on GW stuff (2,000ish) since i got into it, than i spent on magic the gathering. and all those pricey decks got stolen. i like to see someone steal 3,500pts. of chaos without me knowing about it.

Just kiddin with ya buddy!! it is true I knew when I got into it ot would be pricey. I Got into it to save money,as I was spending all my disp income on beer and cheap dorm furniture to replace the ones that broke due to beer! BUt I have now come into my own Dont drink as much and enjoy my $2-3K annual expendatures....

Nuthin ......on the patio! LOL My wife has made sure not to let me set on crap anymore. I enjoy it because my couch IS softer than the milk crate and cinder block furniture I had!! LOL

If it were up to me to decorate the house there would be 12 work/paint stations all with a diff army but nuthin but ramen in the cupboards......

Hmmm, maybe I should just skip college and spend the next few years perfecting my hobby skills so I can get a job at GW HQ. Once there maybe I can knock a few heads together, because it seems that nothing short of that, some new blood, or them having an epiphany will change how they go about buisness.

GW hasn't been able to pay its shareholders for over two years, nothing new in that. The shares themselves are still extremely low - the only thing that's keeping them afloat at the moment really is their extraordinarily highly prized Intellectual Property.

IMO GW got greedey about 10 years ago and tryed to form the empire of stores to shut down and overtake all the smaller indi stores, and in doing so the other TT games. and for the first 6 or so years it totaly seemed to work. but the last few years the empire seems to have gotten so big and detatched from the people that fuel it that many people have given up all together or started serching out the smaller local indi stores for other game expiriences. ( hence the huge succes of games like warmachine and flames of war). well i could go on but thats the jist of it lol

the thing is in the UK there is a GW is nearly every city and large town and most of the large shopping centers have one so thats one of the resons they don't take e-mails that and emails can bonce and go missing (i work in a tech support department it happens alot) that and phones are more pesonals

and the store staff have better things to do than keep the till busy all day with e-mails... honestly, you have no idea just how many fething phone calls we get a day just on rules questions and/or painting & modeling questions!
if we really did do everything via e-mail, then we wouldn't sell a single thing.

the other thing i've noticed is that the US ecomony hitting the toilet hard has really hurt. our dollar went beyond silly, and many of our xmas sales headed down to the US...
factor in the gross incompetence of the provincial government who are determined to have ontario follow the US into the dumps, and people simply aren't spending on much of anything right now.

another big hurt for us are the shaddier indie stores. we have a local store owner who buys direct from the US instead of the proper chanells and thus he sells our product for almost half the cost. that drags away alot of the younger consumers...

but basically, everyone everywhere is losing money big time to developing nations like china & india. there are the predictions out there that within another 10 years or so, the western world will take such a massive financial hurt that we'll become 2nd or even 3rd world contries compared to those currently developing countries! (see, child labour works!)

though a little known fact, i am nearly 100% sure that GW games are not played in asia, and likely will not be for a little while [at least another year or two]

the models are simply too expensive for the asian tastes...and i'm not being racist haha. i'm chinese and i've been to several asian countries. i've looked, no GW models anywhere.
haha but magic the gathering has been translated into chinese for them :P

erm- actually GW sell a fair old amount of stuff in Asia, not as much as in Europe or North America but still a lot. I know the youngest Prince of Brunei has a large Dark Angels army (it was in an oldish WD, the King had a staffer from a Hong Kong GW store flown in to help his son with the army for a day).

haha really ? well that is a prince for whom GW products weren't too pricey. still, i stand corrected. though i have never seen them in either china or taiwan. hrm. haha.

i still don't think GW products will rise in popularity [at least in any noticeable way] in asia for a while, even if their economies are rocketing. same goes for the other countries for whom GW has a small fanbase.

GW has a Japanese site... and I think one of the members here (Joe_Guardsmen?) played some games in Japan...
