Default The Hive Mind

Ok, so saturday i was in my local GW, and we were havin a talk about nids. now, the hive mind came up and we were having a discussion about its nature. now, two groups formed.
one group thought that each hive fleet is its own seperate entity, with its own hive mind. there is no one big collective conciousness that is The Hive Mind (capitilized) each fleet is led by a norn queen, who dominates it and controls them all in a fleet-wide hive mind (not caps ) that doesnt extend past her own warriors. this is why fleets attack each other (though the result is greater then the sum of its parts thing) and why, in game terms anyway, (disregarding balancing) one nid player cant use the synapse network of another nid player. the Tyranids are, basically, bee swarms that have a group conciousness. they cant interact with each other.

the other group thought that each fleets queen link with each other making one big Hive Mind that can work together. they attack each other because they know the winner will be stronger then both combined, and they do it cause they dont have anyone else to fight at the moment.

what are your thoughts on this? one big swarm or each fleet seperate?

1 big swarm and whilst I think Norn Queens have the most dominant minds in the Hive Mind, I also believe that every Tyranid organism in some part contributes to the gestalt conciousness.

instead of bees i think they are more like driver ants
no nest just a moving swarm that eats what ever is in its path
not sure about one swarm and another being part of 1 big whole swarm
but how do you explain millions of years with no nids and within a blip on the timeline several hive fleets arriving on different sides of the galaxy
seems like a very strategic way to eat a galaxy
from both sides
so i think the different hive fleets must have some connections to each other
in a "survival of the race" and "theres food over hear" type of way

MEEHHHH Im torn.....I think each is a part of the big plan. All tyranids are the same mind kinda, but on their own agenda type thing...
like humans, we all are alike but speak diff and act diff but are all of the same mind (family religion happness ect...)

I would say each is diff and acts independant from another, BUT im not up to speed on the fluffy!
