Default How does forge world work?

I'm confused. do you have to play by different rules, are the rules for their models much better, where are the rules.

And why are their books so expensive?

To match the price of their pieces is my guess.
*Sorting through $1,000,000 worth of FW upgrades sitting in bits box*

I have never ordered any of the IA books (I use my friends books, much cheaper). They have rules for their FW upgrade pieces and models.

forgeworld makes models & rules that are 'cool' and more true to the actual background of the 40k universe. hense, they play-test very few of their rules meaning alot of their stuff isn't really balanced! *cough*armoured company*cough*

their books are around the $75-$110 range because they're;
a) typically more pages than a regular 40k codex
b) much larger page sizes & better paper than a 40k codex
c) the books are all hardbacks mean again, it's more $$$ to produce!

cheers!

The one thing that my friends missed is that FW also produces varient models of standard issue 40k and WFB minis. Such as most SM Chapters, yes they have rules in some of the Imperial Armour Books, but you can also use them as standard Space Marines. Same goes with some of the Tau Crisis Suits and Imperial Guard regiments.

My two cents,
Servo

So are they better? It'd sound fun to have a massive game with FW stuff

Better is a relative term... yes some of them have wonky and wierd Special rules, but they are not tourny acceptable most of the time. The Models are freaking sweet though. I have 2 of the Basilisk that have the completely enclosed Crew Compartments, one of the inquisiter models, and I have a Stormblade super heavy tank.

One day soon I will be ordering some Death Korps Models as well.

My two cents,
Servo

They Have Death Korps of Krieg... 'nuff said.

But they make specialist models for the highly addicted/slightly insane fan of GW who like to spend enormous sums of money to have really really cool and unique models.

Ohh and did I mention they have Death Korps??

Have you guys ever seen FW models being used. And do all of their models do something, or do things like buildings do nothing.

Some pillboxes and turret emplacements would be so cool
