I have something in the order of 7000 points worth of Space Marines. I keep thinking of capabilities that I want to be able to field, and collecting, assembing, and painting the models I need to do so.

I normally make a 1500 point list, and then buy extras to 2000 so I can vary the things I use in my 1500 games. I usually stop once I get to 2500 though, but my Eldar have already passed that mark, and look set to carry on going when I get those Harlequins!

my 3rd edition ultramarine army is 6000 points.
my LatD nurgle army is close to 5000 points
my pre-heresy death guard are getting to 3000 points and quickly growing
my angels of censure are 2000 points, but hae been put on hold as i have to GS most of them, but they will grow to 4000 points at least

i like having all wargear and weapon options fora mode, so id have 3-4 versions of a general (all based on the same model or using the same parts just with different weapons), i like having all special/heavy weapon options for troops and heavy choices so i ca vary them from game to game. so i always have loads of heavy weapon troopers floating around

no prizes for guesign my vote!

Well, seeing as I play only Black Legion (I have around 5500 points, last I checked), I will be adding to them for a long time. I plan on 3 Obliterators, at least one more Predator, a 10 man squad of Thousand Sons, Arhiman, Typhus, Lucius, Bile, Blackheart, and basically stuff that I can use. I might even throw in some Wordbearers and Nightlords, just to give me some variation. Heck, I might add some old models too. No end in sight for BL, only limit is cash!

I have about
2500pts Tau
1500pts Nids
3000pts Dwarfs (Mostly unmade)
500pts Tau BFG (pitiful I know, but have you seen the prices???)
And a crap-load of Necromunda stuff.

Up until a few months ago I never really had any way of getting money.
Since I got that job my armies have really started to grow fast...

And I'm thinking of starting a BIG Inquisition/IG army later this year.

you'd be stuck on inquisitor modelling for years as, technically speaking at least, there is no limit to what you can model. everything from pirates to mutants to aliens to bounty hunters to techpriest to redemptionists to inquisitors to news reporters to chaos worshippers to unsanctioned psykers to assassins to guardsmen to actors to arbites to noblemen to kings to box packers to space marines to astrotelepaths... the list is literally endless when it comes to inquisitor.

And on a more army related note:
I have an unknown amount of space marines (quite possibly somewhere between 1500-2000, but I couldn't say for sure), who are being transferred into my new CSM army, which will have no size limit and will gradually expand whenever a cool new model arrives for chaos (or indeed for loyalists that I can cannibalise).

For Imperial Guard I have roughly 1500, about 75% built and undercoated, about 5% properly painted.

I also have approx. (without codex reference) 300 points of 'Nids from the B.f.M. starter box.

There is also around 1,300 points of Dark Eldar in the house, but technically speaking at least, they're my dads, not that he'd object if I commandeered them seeing as they've not been used for over two years.

8 Inquisitor characters, three built and painted by myself, another 2 painted by me and one Kroot Merc previously owned and painted by Mark Bedford

And finally the Mines Of Moria starter set models.

I still am bulding my 1st 40K army I have 3867 points of Death Guard and am planing to expand with some more termies and maybe try and convert a bane blade to be a plague reeper. I also have 2853 point of IG. My son started a Ultra marines army but changed to Tau he curently has 2055 points worth. We cant field these armys most of the time but should be able to have some great time playing Apocalypse. I do not think you ever stop adding to your army

Well... right now my goal is 1.5k... but I'll defiantly be adding... as I am basically going to make a very large APOC army out of these guys... but that's a long term goal... most likely I'll just slowly add on to them, filling out lots of options and building 2 seperate armies...

Then of course I build some LATD, IG, SM and Daemonhunters...

i do marines, 500 pts too 1000 apiece, and as i'm doing a crusade army, i can add in as many as i want, and if i need 1 army of so much, just use a selection of what i have available, i have no limits.

I usually take my models about 20 miles or less. Not too far, since the local hobby shop is 8 miles away and my girlfriend lives about 10 miles away.

Oh, wait...you meant in points? I aim for 2000pts.

hi i maby some one who is not the most dedcated to an army bu i do like 40k not as much as lotr where ive gone mad i have over 20,000 points of lotr including 50-70 heros i collect nearly every army eccept orks they are rubbish oh yh i have 5 armys of 40k aswell in total about 2500 and working on it i have :imperial guard and orks as my main armys i also have tyranids and space marines aswell as small amount of tau tau are my fav i also have a eldar cannon(free gift from gw at a bane blade release event.

an open battle feild is nothing but a death trap anything in it any moving thing is a casualty no matter how well it is protected. it is better to be nice to your soldiers than be killed when the enemy is still a suspiciously long way away

When i first started I was a firm follow of the old adage "Go big or go home". I had 4000pts of Chaos at one time. Now I play for flexability. Most of my army list top out at 1500pts but I keep 2000-2500pts of minis so I can taylor an army list to a specific foe/objective. I am big into fluff, so I try to keep the armies "real" and very true to the background i make for them.
My current Roster is
Iron Warriors-2500pts
Red Corsairs-100pts (need another 1000pts)
Slaanesh Iron Warriors-Work in Progress (1500pts goal)
Ordo Xenos (Alien Hunters)-Work in Progress (1500pts goal)
Traitor Guard-160pts (a killteam with a combat patrol in the works)

I have 5500 pts. of Chaos Marines, not including 1300 pts. of LATD (thank you Apoc. for letting me keep them). Also about 4000 pts. of Witchhunters (and Inducted Guard). Somebody's gotta fight the Chaos hordes.

5k points of space marines, they have changed heraldry some 3 or 4 times. First being dark angels, ultramarines, ultramrines with steel pads and green livery, and finally a new chapter, the Iron Templars.

I've accumulated my army for years, and may of this year marks my 11th year playing 40k.
