Default Re: How far do you take your armies

Honestly.. I tend to take an idea in my head...

I wanted to do a Roman/Crusade Themed Chapter. I also wanted to do a Blood Angels successor.

I then decided what units would be cool for each. Obviously, Roman themed army should be big... Because.. Well ... It's Rome.. and Rome's armies were nothing if not HUGE.

I also needed lots of assault marines. It is BA successor... I needed quite a few furioso dreads. And some Psykers... And a fairly high amount of veterans, as the BA and their scions are prone to long (even for SM) lifespans.

So that formed the basis of what my army was. And I took a few cool units I like personally, as well as a few Apoc formations!

I have 6,000+ points of pure Grey Knight goodness. The case I store them in has to weigh 60 pounds (thats 26.5kg for you folks across the pond).

I always wanted an entire company of marines. So, if you are going to do it. Like I always say "If ya gonna be a bear, be a GRIZZLY!"

On the average I have about 2000 to 4000 points on any list I do. I like options and never liked the static list which is only good for a tourny.

Necrons 3500pts
Marines 2500pts (DIY)
Death Guard 3000pts
Nids 2000pts
That isnt counting my fantasy stuff .... I think I have a problem.

what limit? my Imperium knows no limit, it shall expand until it can expand nomore(main;y my Imperial Guard)

who so far, just by guessing from what I plan on buying, the rough calculated points cost is:10K

got over 900 Guardsmen(Catachan/Cadian/Steel Legion/Vostroyans/Valhallans/Tallarn/Elysian Drop troops and Death Korps of Krieg)
100 vehicles(Baneblades/Titans/Leman Russes/Basilisk's/Sentinals/Rough Riders)

that's JUST my Imperial Guard, I could include all my armies if anyone wants.

but, the sad fact is, that's all many months away(truly I only have 149 Guardsmen so far).

I have been collecting for so long that I have an extensive collection of units. I pick what units I want and try to fit them in a point limit to game but I have no cap. I add what ever unit or figure that takes my fancy.

To date I have the following

6000+ points of Blood Angels (currently expanding)
3000+ points of Necrons
3000+ points of IG
1500+ points of Eldar

And that's just what I have painted. I probably have another 2K of Eldar, 2K of IG and 4K of Blood Angels still sitting around waiting for paint.

Limits are sooooooo booooring.... My only limiting factor is cash supply, I keep (expensive) tropical fish too so generally alternate purchases, getting married later this year is the only reason I haven't been spending much recently but as my soon-to-be-wife wants a baby parrot (damn they're pricey) as a wedding gift there may well be the chance of some superheavy tankness on the day too!

I have 10,000 points of Dark Angels, which includes 9 units of Deathwing Terminators. I just seem to have stuck with them. Now if I could just learn to use them better...
