Blog Entries: 1 | yo to you all so this is a lost and found kinda thread. if any of you find some modelling mojo looking lost and forlorn please return it to me as i seem to have lost mine don't know when, where or how but it's gone.i've been spectacularly uninspired by all of my projects recently. the howling at the moon stuff is well and truely stalled, my recent loosing streak on the tables of my local GW have me disenchanted with my chaos army and the sheer amount of work that my beloved IG need is putting me right off! coupled with a distinct lack of time and energy, and some hefty real life distractions i'm not often in the modelling frame of mind ![]() how do you guys get back into the modelling groove when hobby-apathy strikes?

| Agh I feel your pain man. I think everyone of us have dry spells every now and then... Except maybe Erus, who ALWAYS seems to have an idea . Ususally when I'm in need of inspiration I sit down and listen to some metal, read a good science fiction novel, watch a movie or two, or just explore some other art form. Just do something else you enjoy, doesnt really matter what as inspiration can come from anywhere at anytime. Just take some time to recharge your mojo.

Blog Entries: 4 | I believe taking some time off is probably the best thing you could do, that or make a list of what you still need to do, prioritise things, and then brainstorm to see if you come up with any interesting notions.

| Adeptus Primarch ![]() ![]() ![]() | As IDs said, watch a good movie with loads of cool inspirational scenes (LoR, Predator, Aliens, Gladiator etc). Put on some good music (what ever raises the goosebumps on my arms is how I class inspirational tunes), read a decent fantasy/sci-fi book (I recommend David Gemmel, Terry Goodkind or Stephen King). Try to think in a few well worn cliches I'm always trying to find some way to include "Once more into the breach" OR "Let slip the dogs of war" into my fiction...no luck yetThe best thing though is hanging out with us and a nice cup of tea.

Blog Entries: 1 | I'm in a similar position Hairy, my Eldar army is overwhelming and I'm forcing myself to get stuff done! My theory is, I'm getting all the big scary stuff done ASAP, so when I come out the other end in a few months (prolly 6!) I will have only fun stuff to paint! Thats whats driving me at the moment, cant say it'll last, but if someone finds Hairy's mojo can you give me a bit!

| I do alot of what you guys have already posted. Except I dont make a list of what needs to be done, it would depress me. Instead, I make a list of what I have already done for the year. It makes me feel good to look at 20+ projects done. A feeling of accomplishment I guess. The other thing I do is take off from November to the week after New Years Day. I find the holiday season is a busy time of year. In that time I surf the web for ideas, new painting techniques and read battle reports. By the time January rolls around, I'm totally reved and ready for some painting and conversions. So far this year (starting 1/7/08) I have completed 17 projects. That makes me feel good. The weekend challenge will make it 18. |

| for me its not so much modeling apathy but the real life distractions i just started my project have hit a jam the only way to get back into it i figured is to realize that that model has been on your shelf for a year or decade depending on the case (yes i have stuff that hasnt been painted for a decade) and it needs paint on it every body has a different thing to get them back into it for me its just sheer will power now that finals are over i can get back on track after my sons first birthday party weekend and giving the cars a tune up see it never ends brother you just got to give yourself an hour or 2 a day and only work on them in that time set an egg timer and when it goes off treat it like a test pencils down and do this daily youll get more enjoyment out of the painting aspect of the hobby

Blog Entries: 1 | thanks for the replies guys (hehe, that rhymed ). i've got some crazy ideas running about in my head and, thanks to ikarus, one of them is about to get loose! we'll see if that can get some of the spring back into my modelling step. i won't spoil the surprise so you'll have to keep your eyes peeled for mini projects.i managed to sit down the other day and clean up every single guardsman i own, which was a mamoth task. now i have to paint all the lil blighters up having just read some of the gaunts ghosts books i'm in a very guardsy frame of mind so the enthusiasm is there, just gotta find the time now ![]() maybe i should get a few more project logs going so you can all kick my ass for motivation?

Blog Entries: 1 | Hmmm. Insomniac is right. CSM love metal. Blast some War Pigs by Black Sabbath, that should get you inspired. I sometimes cruise Cool Mini or Not to get the fires burning. Also, make an army list, pour over it a couple of times, and see if you can draw some ideals from that. With your GS skills, you shouldn't ever run out of ideals for Chaos. Oh, get to work on some scratch built Spawn, I know how you like them!

| Kriegsmeister ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | What helps me and is also why i have so many Armies is that wehen i get bored with one start another one. I usually run about 5 different projects at once; IG Death Korps, IG, Space Marines(Black Templars/Iron Hands), Scenery, and now Night Lords or Inquistion. That way if I dont feel like working on Krieg (yes it even happens to ME) I'll build a piece of terrain. That helps me alot working on terrain b/c at least I'm doing something and its something radically different from paint/building minis. Plus you can allways use more terrain. BvL
