Default a moral dilemma

Ok so here's my problem. On the one hand I know it is illegal to make a mold and cast warhammer figures and bits but on the other hand I have a piece that I want to use for multiple figures and GW does not make it anymore. Hence my moral dilemma, break the law or lose a neat aesthetic feature?

IT's quite legal and fine to recast figures for your own PERSONAL use. Where it becomes illegal is if at any point you try to sell the copies. Be sure to mark out the copies in some way (on the bottom of their base, etc..) so you know, but casting them up for your own use is perfectly legal.

Really? Ok, but believe me I'm not selling them as I only need the one piece. For one thing the silicon rubber is too expensive to waste and the other why would I want to sell something that makes my army unique.

Just as a little off topic note, to make my army more unique I actually went way out of my way to find an ultramarines captain for use with the particular item I want to cast.

Then you're on fine, solid moral ground lad! Even some of the greats like Dave Taylor and such use such methods!
