Ordering Individula Bits

Hello, I just have a few questions, I just would like to know if anyone, I am sure but how many people here have customized there army so much that they call for the individual bits, like Shoulder Pads, Helmet's etc... and how is GW with that, an they really get down the the excat bit that you need or do you half to buy the Tray that bit comes on, for example the shoulder pad the Grey Nights have has a crap can't explain it like an extension on it, it like a shield like thats ontop of the shoulder pad, like that the Emperors Champion has on his left shoulder. I am looking at making my own customized army, small army because werre I live there is really no gaming and might be selling my Black Templars to to help get my new army going.

i dont call GW for anything why pay their pricas when you can pick up lot of bitz from firends or other gamers for a really good price
you never know if they have it unless you ask
most TT gamers start a lot of projects that they dont follow through and they have lots of bitz just lying around
i put out a feeler for cheap Khemri bitz and i lucked onto 6 bone giant legs for 6 bucks total
just check your local gaming hub or club and turn to GW as a last resort

your best bet to get individual bits is to first put out a call on this forums trading zone and/or itrader, sometimes other members will have parts to trade. failing that battlewagon bits is a handy place to get plastic parts, heres a link

otherwise, the gw online store is fairly easy to use and usually theres a pic of the item yur after so you can be sure about what yur buying.

Battlewagon is very good for bits as my hairy friend says (though it can be a bit pricey on some of the more choice bits)

Its acutally on the shoulder pad to begin with, its the lip at the top if the pad that goes up like extension of the pad.

my DIY marines use only BT and DA bodies, crusade helmets and company champion and deathwatch shoulder pads, so ive had to use battlewagon bits quite a lot. a termie squad im putting together at the moment uses spears and shields, and for the shields i decided to give them all the thunder hammer sergeant one, and no one i knew wanted to give theirs away and there was no way i was going to buy 5 boxes of termies just to get the shields!

its a great way of customising an army, and while not exactly cheap, you will get only the bits you require

edit: i rarelt finish my own armies! i spend so much time painting commisio narmies that when it comes to my own, i spend ages converting and by the time i get to painting the army ive lost interest! dont worry, just do what you like, the accomplishment of completing a full army (especially a converted one) is something you cant really put a value on

well i think its impossible to finish an army
every one is always thinking one more squad or tank
i know my own marine project has grown to almost 2 companies and i still want more way more
its the same way with my other armies too just one squad of boyz or I
dont have a LRvanquisher or i think maybe now i should make that ogryn squad 10 strong
but they are never finished
i think i might have a problem and seek pro help with my addiction

At least I am not the only one that feels this way, I might maybe just keep going with my Black Templars but on the way slowley but surley make my customized army. Learn more experience with the Black Templars so my Custom CHapter will be that much better.

to continue with your first project and still start a new one
i know ive done it many times well 3 to be exact

Yea most likley, I will keep going with my Black Templars, but this new CHapter might just be for show because some Units might not be legal. Now I half to figure out a paint scheme.

Also ask your local Gw store. They sometimes throw out big piles of spures wth stuff still on them got a few some years ago. Not to many full models besides 3 empire men 2 lizardmen but tonnes of stuff to make conversions with. Also combining fantasy with 40k ork bits had quite a few orks. Also so odd bits like a badly painted 2ed heavy stubber(think thats what it is). Few skelton bit then dark eldar bits for conversion.

true. ionce got 60 assault marine legs from my local indie. there wa something wrong with the sprues and a guy returned them (got new ones for free) and they were going to throw the sprues away. i took them instead (i used to work there) and now, 60 of my 100 ultamarines have running legs!
