Default Plastic Grey Knights or Tyranids?

Ok, so....

I have decided that after i have over 4,000pts worth of Angels of Vengeance (a.k.a. About another 600pts) i will start another army.

Now its either bugs from space, simple enough.

Or a collosally hard army that i just just decided to make harder....

A plastic, truescale, fully converted, pure Grey Knight army.

Vote for which one you think would be best and post why

Grey Knights! If you can make an army that cool, and then make even cooler...It sounds much more interesting.

i say go for bugs
after making a several marines and a ig over my time
i decided to make a tau army
not being with the imperium for the first time since i started in this hobby
has been rewarding
(different models and stuff)
a GK army is really just a supped up marine army
but the challanges for Tyranids is WOW
so i say try the other side out

I say Tyranids. My reason is because there's too many SM armies out there already, so I always encourage non-SM lists.

Oooo, a 3 - 3 spilt.

Coming right down to the wire this one.

Its intresting that some think i need a break from SM, and others just think that converted GK are cool enough to outweigh the similarities between them and SM.

If this poll ends with close results iv decided to make one of each - a totally converted truescale GK, and a Tyranid.

See which one i prefer building, painting etc.

well, i've built my fair share of truescale marines and i'll tell you this...one is fun, a whole army is a freaking endurance challenge!!! you can't just slap em together and be don't with it, they're a serious investment in time and sanity, and while they will look proper cool on the table it'll take an age to get them there. and what with grey knights having all those extra details and the like....

nids on the other hand are a lot simpler to construct even if you do convert them somehow, and can be table ready in a much shorter timespan while still looking very cool.

so i guess it's a question of how much time you can devote to the project.
lots=greyknights
some=nids

Realisitically, the very earliest this army will start to be built is after May - after my GCSE's. After that however i will have alot of time....

I just dont know if i have the skill. Vehicles for example will be absoloute hell.

Im still undecided...

I'd have to say nids. There's just wayy too many marines out there already. Truescale Grey Knights would be cool, but would take tons of time. And, like you said, would defidently need skill to get it done good. All in all, nids would be a much different side to the hobby so I say go with them. Besides, you could convert em into chaos nids.

Everytime it looks like its gunna swing, balance is restored

This is really bugging me now... (No pun intended)

I want a challenge, and TS Converted Grey Knights - well, you dont get more of a challenge!

I fear that i will screw it up though and waste valuable time and money.

And as to Tyranids, iv literally never played a horde before - hell, never even played for the forces of disorder at all before. It would be nice to see how different the game style is and expand my knowledge of tactics overall.

But then i think just how AWESOME my Knights could look.... massive men, armoured and armed as befits Gods!

So i am at a loss still.

Damn indecision

Grey Knights; what you'd do sounds cool plus not enough people on here mess around with grey knights

lol... balanced the poll again... but I think you should do 'nids because they are so different from space marines... after painting one of my bros models, my friend said that he decided that he wouldn't want to play 'nids simply because they are so different in the way you want to paint them...

Also, they're an amazing army... and, if you want a challenge, you can make them one... make a highly converted tyrant or carnifex... etc...

Grey Knights would be cool... but it sounds like a HUGE job... and if I was in your place... I'd rather do a 'nid army than a GK one... grey knights are cool and all, but not as an entire army... then again... that's just me... and you seem to be leaning towards GKs.

Trust me, after reading the Broodlords stat line, im sheer 50/50 on this one.

And i totalled up costs... for me to get a 10 man GK squad up to my high converted standards and so they "look the business" it would cost me around 40 quid per 10 man squad.

Expensive...

very expensive, but then again, truescaleing, the D_C way is, Ex*****ve, 25 for just 5 marines!? and thats if only buy the box of termies in the first place!

however, the look they give on the tabletop is undenieable, they stand out, and your pretty much GARURANTEED that no one else in your local GW will have an army like them.
even more so if you do a PRE heresy army. EG True scaled Custodians. but using GK rules.
but thats just an idea to possibly whet your appatite with.

I'd have to say go nids...(yeah I said it)...of late have been experimenting with other than SM painting...IG, Chaos, Even did an old stle GS just to see if i could...with the new kits there are plenty of options for conversion...and factoring in the whole time versus cash versus finished project versus playability...the nids just make more sense to me...besides would be wicked to see what kinda paint scheme youcould come up with that hasn't been done before

I say GK. Merely because you strike me as much more of a marine player. Stylistically, we could argue until the end of days about the conversion and paint possibilities. Given that aesthetics is PURELY subjective, there is really no right or wrong, or even better answer. We can only give you our own supporting evidence.

GK don't suck on the battlefield. It is just that MANY people try to play them like regular SM, and they are anything but. Other than T, S, and power armor, they really have little in common when it comes down to how to play them.

I say GK... Purely because I know you want to test yourself, and the harder test (everyone, even 'nid fans have to admit) that will push your limits lays within the Grey Knights. Plus, a Grey Knight force is NEVER a large force, so you won't be that bad off really. IF you need help with vehicles, I can chip in there. I have several diagrams and schemactics, which I've drawn up for my own projects, that can be easily enhanced scale wise to ease the truescaling of vehicles.

GK FTW!
