Rumor of "Playing for Keeps" - 40K Terra

Ok this happened about 2 years ago, but I just remembered it now.

There was a time at my local gaming store that a kid was showing his mom the game.

In the midst of discussion she brought up:

"Well, I dont like the fact that you guys play for Keeps"

And Im like KEEPS! are your serious! (though I didnt say that to her, but I did laugh in her face hehehe)

I spent like an hour trying to convince her that we do not play for Keeps, and the hard work we put into it, let alone the cost would be NUTS!

I mean come one Im a Guard player, dont tell me that we are playing for Keeps!

oh my god-emperor. Who would play for keeps? I mean, I woudl loose my beloved guard army in, like, a second, and only one other person at my local store plays guard, so it seems pointless. The stuff costs an arm and a leg, not many gamers would decided to just gie away models.

I can't imagine playing for keeps. Too much time and $$$$$$ involved for that.

Although could you imagine going into turn 6 with the army on the line. I would probably have a heart attack, knowing my dice would fail once again.

Actually sounds like a couple of kids who tried to play at the FLGS. They brought their moms in to buy their armies (yeah, $300-$400 at a time). They told the moms that they needed extra squads because they would lose them if they lost. It's not the players telling the kids this bulls*it, it's the treacherous youth of today, LEADERS OF TOMORROW, trying to hoodwink their parents into spending more money on them. Another example: a kid in the FLGS tells his mom, "I need a Tyranid Hive Tyrant, so I can have a Rending Talon for my Marneus Calgar." Did she get it for him? Dang right she did. Had it been my young'un, I'd have lit his ass up, cause he knows I have a couple of rending talons in my bits box. I guess I'm lucky...my kid just wants money for gas for the car I bought him, so he can go out with girls. At least he's not a geek like his old man.

I remember once I was hanging out with my Local Stores Manager talking smack about the Eldar when a kid and his mom came in and the kid was trrying to convince his mom if he didn't get a landraider and 2 boxs of Terminators he wouldn't be aloud to play in this or any store! So when they came up to pay the Store Manager told this kids mom her son was more than welcome to play in the store... With the 1000 points worth of Space Marines his Dad got him last week! It was awesome to watch that mom chew out her kid for being greedy and make him put the models back on the shelf neatly.
Morale of the story, kids are Greedy and Gamestore Kids parents should be informed!
