Now if someones has some of there army painted and some not that doesnt bother me its just when the whole BF is stock grey and metal it kinda gets to me. I guess that becouse i prime my vehicles on the sprue and some of my guys also. You should feel good about your army being painted however you think the quality is. Sorry if this sounded bi***y. Thanks steve

Blog Entries: 4 | It doesn't bother me at all. I started out playing CBT, in which you could use a bottle cap to represent a figure so long as it didn't get confusing (though we actually worked in double blind games where I played, tons of fun) Some people don't have the time to paint and can only get away for a little while at a time to play the game. For any non tournament game I see no reason to be anal about something as stupid as "colored or not". If you have the time and money to invest in a tournament however, the least you can do in base coat them and pick out a few details.

| High Lord of Terra ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I am in the same boat as Iron Raptor. I really don't care one way or another. I work 2 jobs, have a girlfriend that lives 30 miles away and I go to school. This does not leave a lot of time for me to paint. Now priming is another story all together. People should at least prime there stuff. if nothing else it shows witch models are witch when two marine armies are facing off against each other. But I love to build modles and play. Painting is more of a chore for me so if you want to bring a poorly painted force or one that is just primed, that is cool with me. Servo |

| It only bothers me if my opponent with the unpainted army makes it not fun to play the game. If each time I play that army and there is some work done on it, than at least you know there is some effort going into it. I have a hard time playing my own army if it is not painted. I guess I am a tad anal when it comes to my own stuff.

| I sometimes play with unpained minis, especially if I am testing a new unit in my force. I will play it a couple of times bare or primed, and then I'll paint it if I decide to keep it on the roster. Otherwise, it goes on the trading block, where paint will most often bring the price down, as opposed to bare metal/plastic or primed models. As for playing my whole army bare nekkid plastic and lead...not very likely. I don't like being laughed at. Base-coating is better than nothing.

| Not at all, most of my armys are only 60, 70 percent painted. I just don't have the time or energy (and my skill is crap at best) to paint all my models. 40k (and Warhammer) is more about strategy then painting for me, but for most it's the other way around so it's not like I don't get it. Just my 2 cents |

| see i have the biggest problem with motivation. my chaos is 70-80% done but I started a new army and now i want to paint them. It doesn't bother me to play against an unpainted army. I just hate playing with a partial painted army do to the fact that I have no self control and keep moving forward before i'm done.

| i'm in the camp that agrees it is most definately very disrespectfull to always play with an unpainted army... for me, painting your army is not only half the fun of this hobby, but it's also showing respect for your opponent; that you are a hobbiest and that this game isn't just your newest 2-week obession! now i don't mind if an army is unpainted because it's brand-spanking new! i mean, alot of people like to build their new toys and try them out right away! it also helps them to quickly see what new units/vehicles and such will be of most benifit to their fledgling force! however, i like to see some progress!!! perhaps the 1st week the entire 1000pts army is bare plastic/metal. by next week, i damn well expect to at least see half the models have been primed! (providing of corse it hasn't simply rained incessently for 10 days strait or so!) again, if say after 2 weeks, i would like to think that a player has had time to at least paint one or two models - even if they're just 'test' schemes... basically it all boils down to the fact that if i can put the effort into painting my army, then you should be able to at least put a bit of effort into your army! (especially once the new washes come out on june 7th - they're so freakin' godly that there really is no excuse anymore not to give painting your army a shot!) cheers!

| If I play against someone with an unpainted army it's no big deal to me. If they bring that stuff to a tourney, well that's different. Around here, a tournament isn't just a place where we get together to cream our opponents and brag later, it's more of a place where we can show off our latest projects and see who got the worst dice rolls. If a newcomer shows up with an army that has only a basecoat or nothing at all, nobody really cares. If you show up to 3 or more tourneys with the same army and no work has been put into it, you may not get in to the tourney if there's no room (never going to happen at the store I play at, we can do 10 or 12 tables in various parts of the store and the regular tourney goers only number around 8 - 12) I should probably also mention that our regular tourneys are 1 tourney a month, first month Fantasy, next month 40k, etc. So in 6 months time people around here would expect something to change.... Personally, I use other models as proxies to determine whether or not I like a unit, then buy it if I like it. After that the unit doesn't see the tabletop until they are completely done. I can't help it. My friend let me proxy a Daemon Prince back in 3rd edition, and told me it was okay to use it while it was WIP, but I just couldn't do it. I don't know why. Don't judge me!! *Ahem* Anyway, this game is a hobby first, for a great deal of people, but some of us hobby-ers, this is just a game.

| Mostly it does, if they're playing with all unpainted! But if they're mostly painted or in the process of painting I'm ok with it.

| wow understandable, reason i dont like playing unpainted army is it gets confusing if its like a 4 way battle ad somone else has unpainted army! but as long as people are going to or are at least putting some form of effort in... btw good post experiment, more food for stitch ![]()
