Pen and paper. Well, lead pen and paper. I usually get a rough ideal of what I want to take, then go from there.

I usually scratch out a few rough drafts of a lists with pencil and paper. Once I feel good about a list I'll type it up on Microsoft Word.

I am with Mikeel on this one.

First pencil than microsoft word. I know some people who use army builder, but they aren't always accurate.

I use Excel and Word...

I actually only use word if I'm gonna post it up on a website... otherwise gridlines and a good excel sheet look nice...

Plus... excel will add every thing up for me easily!

I can also easily cut and paste different armies together, switch up ideas and the like...

Yes, its SUM process is rather nice. Plus it formats the lists pretty well.

Note pad and paper with a calculator then write it out on the PC and store it in my 'Army list' folder.

For custoding I use a paper and pen to check lists, ticking off units if they're correct OR noting how they differ from correct

Army Builder all the way. I find it a great program to use and it's really easy.

I also tend to use open office for a nicer prettier army list.

I used to use pen and paper, a calculator and the relevant codex.
Now I use excel and a customised set of macros that give me drop down menus for choices and upgrades, and automatically tallies the points.

It was made as an assignment for my computer class. It was written with the codex values for things (and when they update the codex, it means re-writing the macros). It works quite well, outputs in a very neat manner, and is by its very nature, portable from computer to computer (as long as there's a copy of excel on it).

Of course, it will only do one army. So I have three versions of it. One for eldar, one for SM and one for my DH.
