Rogue Trader?

Rogue trader. By accident. 40k was actually in the 3rd Edition when I started, but I stumbled across an awesome OLD Rogue Trader shop, with gamers inside playing the 1st Ever edition of our much loved 40k. Oh bliss =] I've never been able to find that shop again. Maybe it was a ghost shop. O.o

We started playing using RT and White Dwarf army list's. I actually first played a game by GamesWorkshop when It was just an RPG because DnD was just not getting it any longer at the time.

There were also 2 chaos books (lost and the damned and I cant remember) that each gave rules for 2 of the great powers that came not long after?

O they days of tzeentch geanstealer covens backed by beastmen and Virus grenades

vortex / tangle foot.. I can go on and on.

OOO, and the squats, I loved them trikes with multi meltas on them, and you guys remember the robots right?

Whats about a harlequin with 80 attacks when tooled?

Very soon after the release of 4th ed.

Got into Dawn of War only to have a co-worker point out the source material. We played a small game with his SM army and I bought my first box of cadians shortly after.

wow, when did I start...It was 2nd edition, I remember it like it was yesterday. My buddies and I were at the local hobby store playing Battletech (good old battletech, how I miss you). and 2 members of the 40K group were going at it. Watching those Imperial guard tanks massacre the tyranid horde did it for me. I was hooked. Bought the boxed set a week later, and played marines for 6 months, till the dark gods whispered in my ear. Played 2nd edition hardcore (Vortex for the win!) till 3rd came out. I took a break and got back into the swing of things when 4th came out. And that brings me to today.

I'd been looking at 40k models at my hobby shop since 3rd edition but never got interested untill I played DoW. Then as I was playing Space Marines with allied Imperial Guard I remebered looking at the models. I was heavily into Lord of the Rings at this point with about 1000 pts of Gondor done and so. I sorta progressed from LoTR to 40k. I started playing 4th edition though so I really havent known much else. Bought a Cadian Squad and a Space Marine tactical squad and have never looked back.

Now I'm the Forge World Lord of Terra (haha Mart) with one of the most extensive Death Korps Armies on the web (I think). I ought to get back into LoTr though. Been along time since I painted any of those guys.

I'm quite regretful that I hadn't even heard of Games Workshop and its wonderful TTG's much earlier.

lol i actually didn't start until about 3 years ago, around 4th ed's post-release "slump." one nice thing about being a relative noob [relative to lots of the other gamers here at least] is that i got the benefit of choosing models from the sweeeet lineup that GW has now. :]

This is only me second year of the 40K hobby! I played(not really played, but painted, modeled and made scenery) the LotR SBG for 2-3 years before that after seeing an advertisement for it in the LotR RotK game for nintendo gamecube. After a few years of that, I realized that the LotR SBG wasn't as supported as is should be, and that the 40K miniatures were much cooler and much more fun to assemble. So, I got a friend interested in 40K as well by talking to him about it on a Track and Field trip. He bought DoW and now we're both hooked.

Ive been interested in the game since gods know when, but I didnt start playing till 4th ed. I started just before the new Tau codex came out. A buddy of mine pretty much handed me my first army and said I had no excuse NOT to play anymore, and now here I am a year or two later and Ive been a proud member of the warhammer community since
