Default worst staff experience

I think this would be the right place for this thread if not please tell me where it should go.

Anyways, I'm wondering what is the worst GW staff experience you guys have ever had?

Mine was actually the other day at a local store in downtown toronto. I walk in and I talk to the one employee about something and two bad things happen, first another two people were wanting to play but since they didn't have their rule book with them the employee would not allow them to play. Second I was talking to the one employee about tau shield drones and the other employee who could only be around 16-18yrs old butts in, gives his aopinion as if he makes the rules then just walks away. I felt like smacking the pompos jerk.

When the GW manager accused me of shoplifting, called the cops and got interrogated, questioned and threatened to get banned from going to that GW ever.

NOBODY DOES THIS TO THE EMPEROR.

I haven't returned since.

Working as a staff member many many bad experiences. I was lucky for most of the time I worked there because my manager was really cool and put together a group of really nice guys who I'm still friends with. Towards the end they got rid of part time work and most of my friends had to leave. Then the replace them with socially inept know-it-alls who don't talk to you like a normal person. Luckily I only had a couple of weeks of that before I moved on to a better job.
Now a days as a customer I just don't like it when I'm sold to by the guys who know that I worked there. How are you gonna sell to me when I know exactly what it is that you are doing? It's insulting enough to most people who walk into the store but I was an insider for a while.

I haven't really had a horrible problem before, however whenever I go into a hobby store most of the time they stare me down as if I'm gonna steal something and/or rob the place. Though I can't really blame them given I ware a big black trench coat, have long hair, and tend to be lazy about shaving, so I don't really fit the 40k gamer profile.

yeaaa i'm wondering if this was the SAME gw that ikky got kicked out of, but one of the guys was an absolute jerk and gave me all these looks when i observed his games. he shoved little kids out of the way and told them to go somewhere else when they watched him playing...fricken jerk.

i know stitch isn't like that ! :P

Wow! The GW employees at my local stores were INSANELY nice helping me play my first game, offering a free figure and painting lesson, and not pushing or anything. It was really fun

The workers all seemed to be friends though, loved the games, had friends in the store, and were relatively young. SO yeah good happy employees i guess

well not all redshirts are bad
take stitch for example
but there are a few that make going to a GW store unbearable
i drive 40 mins to the closest hobby shop(the closer one closed down) and i dont like being met by snobs when i get there

well wheni was a kid i took some of my space wolves (not my latest ones, my very first army 15 years ago ) up to the store to see what the staff thought of them. i'd spent ages working on them getting them up to the best standard i could, and even though i wasn't a very good painter at the time i was very proud of them. i'd drybrushed the armour and then neatly filled in the rest of the details. but the staff were less than impressed. they basically told me that my models were aweful and that i shouldn't bother if that was the best i could do. so i though i'd show them and bought another model that i started painting in the shop, which only had about 10 different colours to work with so i had to mix up most of the colours i needed. and again i was told how shockingly bad i was compared to them! it put me off for a long time.

thankfully, the staff these days are a lot more encouraging and i haven't see anything like this for a long time.

I havent had a really bad one, but if those b*st*rds try to sell me stuff i dont want to buy with money i dont have i will kill them all.

I.e. I walked in for a Land Raider.

I left with a Land Raider Terminus, a Land Raider Crusader and i was lucky to avoid getting a 3rd. Oh, and i got a bottle of black spray paint.

Other than that, they are awsome

(If slightly obsessed. Last time i spoke to one about a Dreadnought he pretended he was one and made noises for the Assault Cannon and everything. And made up a story pretending to be Azareth of the Dark Angels threatening to deem an Imperial Commander a heretic unless he gave him a Baneblade. Slightly screwed in the head perhaps, but i admit it was relatively funny at the time )

I had exactly the same experience when I first started...put me off painting for years

Then a few years ago was in a small GW in a mall talking bout the new Nids and the redshirt asked me what colours I was going to use I stated I was going to use purple and blue in tribute to the original genestealers he just scoffed and said that is just such a crap colour scheme, like totaly crap (his exact words).. he just scoffed at me like I was some greenhorn-he was sacked three days later, after i informed the manger then called GW HQ (nobody pisses me off)

that really sucks, i can imagine how that would ahve affected me as a budding young painter

btw, is that where your dislike of drybrushing comes from?

regarding bad experiecned, cant say ive ahd any, my local indie was really great and we were good friends with the staff (of which i was a member some 6 years ago), eventhough some we adults and me and my firends were just 11!

I dont think I've ever really had a bad GW store experience other than them asking me if I was all right and was I looking for anything in particular every 5 mins (I kind of forgive them that because I was instructed to do the same thing at HMV if I saw a customer who looked even the slightest bit unsure)

In fact whilst I was working at the aforementioned HMV I'd regularly pop down to the Stoke GW on my lunch break as it was only a 5 minute walk away- got to be friendly with the guys there and eventually I ended up talking to one until closing time (there was only him and another customer left in the store) and he started *****ing about the 'bastard' players who come down and get arsey when they're caught cheating- we were joking about evil customers and wanting them to all burn in the fiery pits of hell (seriously...I do), so he invited me and the other customer to join him and another member of staff to play when they shut the store up. You know, get to use all the tasty boards, play some music, have some beers....GW staff are ace in Stoke

now ive had a few bad times.

me and my buddy went in and played a game. i was using black templars he was using 300 fully painted fully based squats. yea 300 of the bastards. an employee came over and kicked us out because "we were using non gw models" i told him to suck it and he asked if i wanted to take it outside. i said no because i'd break him in half, seriously this guy was a bowling pin 5'2'' 180lbs, im 6'5'' 265. i could only wonder where this guys head was at. i went in the next day and informed his manager he was sacked 3 days later and i got a $20 gift card and my buddy got a massive compliment and some serious pats on the back for the squats.

then i was in the other day and some kid started picking up my models, i have problems with this, you wanna see ask its simple. so this 13 year old kid starts picking my marines up and slamming them down. i asked him to stop, he then threw my dread at my opponents stuff while we were lookin in a rule book. i walk up to him and he backs up and starts crying, i was pissed. an employee came up and scorned me for doing what i did. i said bann the brat because he threw someone elses shyte and thats unnacceptable. he yelled at me and informed me to leave. the kids dad confronts me and gets on my case for scarin the kid. i never touched him. he wouldn't listen to reason. i had that employee fired also for not keepin the ruffians in check

OMG OMG!

WHERE DO I START!

I think the worse was when they sent a splinter employee to our local hobby shop. Asked the owners and workers how they run things, and run the hobby.

THEN Opened up a Battle Bunker 10 minutes away. 6 months later the place that I spent my childhood (literally) closed!!!

It was devastating!

I truely could not forgive them for that. The worse part was the GW rep (during conversation) was joyful and made jokes about the beloved store that we all loved!

Im sure you guys cant understand the bastardly deeds that they have done.

But trust me I have my ways of sticking it to the man oh yea!
