| Magic binds us all. It surrounds us, it permeates all societies of all races, but, it is most seen in the ancient and venerable art of runecrafting. A gift from the Gods, the venerable art of runecrafting is indeed a powerful one, by manipulating energy and knowledge of the arcane. I myself have only witnessed this art a few times in my life. I do not have the gift, nor the training to do it myself, as such it is amazing that I have viewed the magics involved myself. It is truly amazing to view, as a runesmith mends the material he imbues and then minds the actual magic to the object. Though runes are venerated above all else, all other forms of magic, the smiths of these things are rare beings. Not truly human, they keep to their selves, only appearing in public when they deem it necessary. Though they work on commission basis for many powerful generals and nobles, the prices they charge are, to be perfectly honest, outrageous. Their weapons are of average quality, only have limited uses as far as their runepower goes, but then again, this is not their primary means of gaining money. Of course, runesmiths are not the only mages in the world, there are also the usual spirits, mediums, and the few spellflingers. All gain their powers from the same source, the realm of the Gods, a now abandoned and silent place. What sets these petty magicians apart from runesmiths is not the source of their power, nor the means by which is it created, by the magnitude of their power, and the fact that runesmiths are the only true legitimate wielders of magic, all others, whether they admit it or not, use their magic against the will of the crafters of it. The above is something that I just typed out for a planned fantasy setting that I will... someday... finish... I have really struggled with magic which I do really feel is a key theme to any fantasy realm, and can make or break it (DnD has horrible magic... it really is a glaring error... while 40k and Warhammer have good magic, and they do really help)... anyways... I might end up scratching this as well... but I do think its finally time for me to ask for some help from someone... so go ahead and tell me what you think... its not much, but I intend to write up some of it before I start school next week (no! my winter break is ending!)

| Conscript ![]() | thats actually very cool. ive written 3 fantasy worlds in my time (all to which ive dedicated 2,000,000+ words , maps diagrams, drawings etc), or which the one im working on right now is the biggest and most thurough. BTW: the magic system for D&D 4th edition is undertaking a huge overhaul to make it more natural and, ironically more similar to magic in WFRP |

| Lol... actually I've change runesmiths a bit... not to much, but my fantasy world suddenly turned from standard fantasy to Cyber Punk (to much 40k, I swear... plus I like guns ).The basis still remains... but I've thrown in Angels, demons, werewolves (thinking about different name... as they are slightly different), vampires (notural and pale, but not human blood suckers... maybe blood suckers, but defiantly not human blood suckers) and well... humans. Oh, and two more kinds of magic for humans, spellflingers and soulstealers. I'd post it all up, 'cept its all really disorganized and random right now. That's the problem with ideas... they can be hard to organize sometimes. ![]()
