Default 40k RPG Rules?

Here are some links to some rules I found online.. They seem pretty stable so far... Tell me what you guys think?

This one seems to use the GURPS system nicely:

I would seriously like you guys to review these rules... I fully intend to make a full fledged rules and sourcebook out of them(free, for the website to use), and wanted opinions on the varying systems and their pros/cons before I moved ahead.

Okay, since no one seems interested in saying something... I guess I will.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again, but, for no reason in particular, I prefer Black Industries rule books to any homebrew system, especially a homebrew that is 20d.

Don't ask why, but I don't like 20d. First off, I don't like the system... second, for me, the percentile system is easier to learn... from one to one hundred... easy.

Now... I realize the Dark Heresy's core book along is 50 dollars... but amazon and Barne's and Nobles have good discounts... as does the Warstore.com... plus, from what I've heard, the system is very good.

Now, if someone took their time to take the Dark Heresy book and convert it into a 20d RPG... I'd take my time to look at it, but that's really about it... I will attempt that Dark Heresy's system probably lends itself more to 20d and a class based system than WFRP's career system... which is really impossible to turn into a class system without destroying the heart of the system.

Now, Erus, I realize that you don't care for the percentile system... but me... I think I'll pay the money and what could be the most anticipated RPG of the decade, if not of all time.

That is all well and good, but I personally don't think it fair or any such to expect someone to have to buy or rely on a moderator for rules to a free forum's RP. Just my 2 cents though.

I didn't say it was fair... your probably right in saying it isn't. However... I wouldn't mind typing out what rules you needed and PMing them to you... or possibly even scanning some pages and emailing them (I do believe I have the right scanner for this now...)

Mind you, on most Play by Post RPG forums, it does help if you have the rules, but you don't have to... two of the RPGs I was involved in used rules I didn't really understand, and didn't really take time to learn/didn't buy the book, yet its still all good.

Of course... one of them is a percentile system... and my character sheet is very self-explanatory.

The whole issue is though, most companies are fine with the scanning/sharing of rules like that through a forum. GW is not. Even if it were sent via a PM, if I were to accept it (being an Admin) and knowingly particpate in an IP violation of GW's stuff, then the forums as a whole could be brought under a lawsuit and shut down.

Now, that doesn't mean you can't use them in your RP's, and that you can't help walk someone through the process. But the sending of typed up or scanned pages from the rulebook is highly illegal, and as an Admin, I can't really participate in it, or the forums could be harmed.

Though, i'm more than open to speak to you Tomorrow or Teusday on the merits of the percentile system over d20, etc ...

d20 ftw.
Grew up with it. Plus it has become the symbol of pen-and-paper-style RPG's. (i.e. stat based turns, not hack and slash live)

And thanks Erus for finding those

I am in process of procuring a copy of Dark Heresy from my friend... I will give it a run through. I do fully intend to make some house rules for here, though browsing the Black Industries website, they have made it much like some other of the great Pen-N-Papers of yesteryear... You really don't seem to need to own the manual, though I think you'd get a helluva lot stronger, more realistic char if you did.

Judgement still with held until I have browsed it.. But looks hopeful.

I call the adenture in the back of the DH book. (Ps... the file still didn't work... no worries... my copy arrives on wednesday... so I don't mind).

I'm going to start an OOC thread for this scenario... I guess...

Go right ahead.. I still think the rules need a bit of work.. It's like most RPG's... Fine for pen-paper where you meet every week, but in an online forum, some tweaks need to be made for balance sake (in the players favor, usually).

I'll be doing my own scenario, feel free to nab the pre-fab one.

Besides, that file that didn't work had 3-4 other ones I can fall back on if I need to.

Hmmm, I'm thinking of getting a copy of Dark Heresy too, so I'll be watching this with interest.

In the upcoming weeks and months, I will be forging ahead, mostly made on my own resources, with making the setting being the Age of Apostay and the heresy of High Lord Vandire.

So, keep looking at this spot, as I will be making the RPG. MoW, I will be asking you for help and checks from time to time, as I will be using the same system as the Dark Heresy book uses.

Also... Baron, you sneaky man.... Can you *ahem* send a copy of that lovely black market DH book you have? My copy arrives soon, but I need some sort of copy to peruse... Send it to JHart06 at gmail dot com

Hey.. Baron... Ahem.. As Erus said... upload it somewhere and send us links is best...

You didn't hear anything.
Most importantly, nothing happened.
