| Kharn the Betrayer-165 10 chosen w/ mark of khorne, melta-gun, 3 power weapons, rhino -300 5 terminators, mark of khorne, 2 powerfists -200 10 berserkers, rhino -245 10 berserkers, rhino -245 10 berserkers, rhino -245 10 berserkers, rhino -245 Land Raider -220 Predator, twin-linked lascannon turret, heavy bolter sponsons -135 Total: 2000pts Basic strategy: armoured flank rush. with the land raider leading the way, spearhead up the corsair flank and unload behind the tanks, so the passengers cant be shot at. some of the tanks wont make it that far with the missle launchers, but the passengers will survive and press on. any transports disabled will have their squads act as a second wave support. the pred will move around a little bit the chosen are in the land raider, the terminators are teleporting in. Kharn is walking. little slower, but he will be there by the 3rd turn, plenty of time to tear em up. NOTE: because kharn is an independant character, you cant shoot at him if he is within 6'' of another unit OR TANK. i asked a red shirt on this one in a real game and she said, backed up by the manager, that tanks count. Gent is totally outnumbered, though i am a little outgunned. in close combat however..... one squad of bezerkers can handle any single unit there. but they will be acting in cordon with each other. the land raider and pred will pick off targets of opprotunity (aka, the termies, oblits, raptors.) BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!! |

| Your Local Ori Prior ![]() ![]() | Im totally outnumbered? I count over 69 for me and 61 for you. Im not outnumbered, and yes you do beat me in close combat, but with only one more attack than I have. Remember, Chaos Space Marines hav Bolters, Bolt Pistols, AND Close Combat weapons. If I charge, we are on equal playing field. It is a good matchup, though your character is a LOT better than mine!

| I vote Dan. After LONG consideration the thing that will tip the battle in Dan's favour (in my opinion) is the Landraider. As long as it sticks to the roads it will dominate which ever section of the battlefield it currently sits in and with only 4 Str8 weapons with a range greater than 12" Gent's going to find it hard to dent it unless he gets lucky. Using the LR and Predator in conjunction should enable Dan to slowly cleanse the streets of the filthy Red Corsairs. Last edited by Baron Spikey; 11-22-2007 at 10:23 AM. |

| well yes, but my guys are going to be traveling in a big pack, so two of my squads would be hitting one of yours. if you charged, i would have 2 more there to back them up Normal CSM- ws4, bs4, s4 t4 a-1 (+ccw) Bezerker-ws5 bs4 s4 t4 a-2 (+ccw) PLUS furious charge. i would be hitting you faster/harder/more often/on a 3+ you know y kharn isnt with a squad? cause he hits with EVERY SINGLE ATTACK. its just that ones hit is own side. |

Blog Entries: 5 | Dan 296 FTW!!! Basically he has the specialization that will be required to win this. Good lists on both sides though.

| Your Local Ori Prior ![]() ![]() | And what, my squads are all running around on their own??? I dont think so! My squads will be close to each other too. Now, yes you would be hitting more and Kharn is nasty, but seriously, ONE Meltagun hit and he is toast, I think I have the guns to spare to shoot him dead. I mean seriously, a rocket will bring him down....... or a powerfist, I have lots of ways to kill him Dan, now your list is very solid, but I also have a lot of close combat punch, but I also have the ranged to more than make up for my ineptness when compared to your close combat.

Blog Entries: 5 | Gonna vote for Gent here. Dan doesn't have hardly any anti-tank, and his land raider isn't going to last long w/ two havocs and a squad of oblits. The heavy bolters will chew through infantry, and with dan putting them in large 'packs' as he stated, it only lines it up all the prettier. Nice tasty targets for all those missile launcher pie plates as well. The main advantage Dan has is his character (melta gun, rocket, or powerfist and he's gone). Besides that, he has +1 WS. While nice, that won't make or break the fight. He may be specialized, Dan's marines, but Gent has bolters and bolt pistols. He can sit back and thin Dan out and then do just as well in CC as him. I really don't see it as a landslide victory, but Gent would win

Blog Entries: 5 | Dan. Whether or not a Red Shirt said this, for a competition of this nature, we'd need something more than Word of Mouth for this. Show me the rule book pages or something and i'll admit it. But you can't say 'well a redshirt told me, so..'. No offense to Stitch, but Red Shirts are NOTORIOUS for not knowing jack diddley **** 1/2 of what they spout off they do.

Blog Entries: 1 | This is a tough one. The terrain makes it tough. Gents list has quite a lot of fire power, obviously, and if Dan played his marines wrong( id, waltzing down the road) he'd be toast. Conversely, if Dan expertly positioned and played his marines, Gent would find himself in a world of hurt. Dan came prepared for the assault phase, with all of his assault weapons and extra CC weapons. But Gent also has a several flamers, which can be devastating in CoD. ![]() |

| Your Local Ori Prior ![]() ![]() | so the score is 1 to 1 with two voters undecided. It is a VERY close game!

| From page 51 of the rulebook: Shooting at characters: "...characters that are not part of a unit can only be chosen as targets if they are the closest target to the firer" so what i said was wrong, but right (like, the 6'' thing was wrong, but you still couldnt shoot at kharn) and because the tanks are faster then him they would be the closer targets. its the second day of the battle...only three people have voted...its going to be close ![]() |

| sorry dan but i have to go with gent. the amount of fire power that is on his side would normally reduce you to half a function list when the close combat matters and his units aren't totally defensless in close combat. Last edited by Lord Commander Erus; 11-11-2007 at 08:09 AM. |

Blog Entries: 1 | i'm casting my vote to ICG and the red corsairs. dan's rhino rush tactic would work well over more open terrain but through a rubble strewn city those rhinos will be failing difficult terrain tests sooner or later. that'll hamper the 'zerkers manuverability a bit, allowing the red corsairs to concentrate on destroying them piecemeal.

But those havocs + oblits + termies look pretty good for taking out those rhinos on the move ![]() And the land raider doesn`t have too many targets My vote goes to GENT Now if you`ll excuse me, i must silence some skulls.

Blog Entries: 1 | Change your decision Dan! Wait for all the votes to be cast. My vote, after much thought, goes to Dan. In CoD, you don't get 4+ turns of unhampered shooting. I think that by the time Gent could get his anti-tank units in LoS, Dans Rhinos and Land Raider would be all over him. Last edited by Baron Spikey; 11-22-2007 at 10:24 AM. |
