| Primer ![]() | I found it it ingenius how abnett leaves a long gap in the story after the initial discovery of Pontius. I totally forgot about him......then BLAM! he comes back for more. And of course eventually gets a body. Dan Abnett should be elevated to a 40k god. period. Quote:
I find it interesting how likeable and seemingly important some of the characters in Abnetts books are, just to have them blown away, evicerated, burned, possesed, or any combination of a grusome death. This just goes to show you how violent and unforgiving the 40k universe really is. It is by no means a "rated G" environment (which is good for me )

| @Erus: know where your coming from on the Descent of Angels thing, apparently you have to read it with Angels of Darkness to get the full benefit though (a book that has been out of print for a while now ).Yeah Ravenor Rogue has only just come out, it was Ravenor Returned that was the latest of the set available in September. It was just a lucky break on my part that when I walked into my local GW they'd just had a shipment of books so it had been on the shelves only an hr or 2 before i quickly snapped it up. |

Blog Entries: 5 | It's not that it's bad or hard to understand.. It's just the tone in general is so dry and slow that it's hard to get excited about it. And this is coming from a history major!

| Primer ![]() | I wonder whats going on with this Ravenor Rogue thing. I bought it back in August or so at my local Hastings. It must be in limited circulation or something, because it seems difficult for people to get thier hands on it

| Not sure why but the shop that stocks all the 40k books near me never has any in hard back. Maybe they know I'll just club them with it and run. ![]()

| Corporal ![]() | spoiler contained for ravenor rogue and eisenhorn in black in the middle ish bit so dont highlight if you havent read it. eisenhorn is my favourite BL series becuase of its characters. i agree with autolocus (sp? i dont want to scroll up ) ravenor is an awesome series but i think it focuses too much on the pursuit of an individual without focusing as much on specific characters. we recieve very little about any of the characters but plenty about the S**T they find themselves in. eisenhorn however is aweomse because the main characters DO die unlike most other books. ill admit that thonius the unlikely one the interrogator, the supposedly devout and pious one considering his status, i the one that gets possessed and attempts a rampage but in the end he saves the day.. however in eisenhorn ALL eisenhorns principal agents are wiped out or leave in the end, judge dredd, oops i mean fischig, is turned in to a daemonhost, bequin is in stasis/dead to all purposes, aemos is well it says he speaks his last owrds so insane/dead/whatever, nayl leaves kara laeves, voke dies, maxilla is killed, heldane attempts murder, this is all off the top of my head don't remember much more. it's the truest to life. vibben. she dies as well and midas. its the fact that eisenhorn starts the third book with 50 ish primary agents and the distaff and works out with eisenhorn having pretty much a daemon as a buddy at the end. its true to life. a psyker and a ganger walk in to a processional ( a chicken crosses the road in 40k...........) and kill lots of cultists using psychic powers, stubbers, swsords, cover and brains, compared to guns and possession. and a xenos tech worm thing. its true to life ish...hope i havent wasted too many peoples time with my mad ravings..... |
