Default DEMIURG in 40k!

Hey

I have an Idea, why not include the Demiurg as foot troops in the normal Tau Empire list? I thought I'd scratch build a squads worth and make up some rules. They are from Battlefleet Gothic in case anyone doesn't know what they are, and they are currently only available as a race in space.

Existing backstory:
They are very industrious by nature, and tend to not show up in imperial space or meddle in imperial matters. They have a mercenary streak and will work for Rogue traders, and or course the Tau, among other things. They have some kind of grudge against the orks. Demiurg are organized into 'families', which i take to be a clan and not some kind of blood relation. These families seem to mine ore in space, and their ships can absorb interstellar gases such as nebulae with their shields. Everything above is from the book, I took the gist of it from the BFG Armada book. Anyone have something to add?

I was thinking for the model, a lictor/cthulu/mindflayer/quarren head (man sci-fi's repeated that a few times), a robe to make it look sagely (ala mindflayer), and make it big, maybe just a lictor with a robe that covered its body. That was my concept, but this can be changed. I really like the squid-bearded effect, though. Also, the robe might not be industrial enough. And they might be better as guardsmen or something that size that have Squidbearded Genestealer heads.

What weapons do you think they would carry?

What kind of special abililities you think they should have?
1.Preferred Enemy: Orks (for sure)

Do you think they should have a homeworld? Or space dwelling?

Any other kind of backstory/gaming/modeling ideas?

Thanks.
-Lucky

demiurg are dwarves
basically squats
reread your back story its right in there
industrious
tend not to meddle in the affairs of the world(galaxy around them
just making their superior weaponry, armour and mining
seperated into clans and sometimes do mercenary work
thats a spot on for dwarves

Impossible. There were dwarves/squats, so they wouldn't be hiding under the moniker of 'Demiurg', so they can't be demiurg simply because that would be anti-climactic. I also don't see the point of inventing a new race just to start making 'em look like squats. I do see your point though. Where did you see this in the backstory?

Also, what bout Nicassar? They could look like Mindflayers and float around the battlefield kind of like Tau Empire Zoanthropes. They sadi in the book that they 'weren't fit for combat' but if they are truly as psychically gifted as they say, they would suit the above Zoanthrope reference and be able to warp blast people. No?

Black Library novel? I'll try to check it out. I've been looking in my BFG armada book.

Black clouds? That would explain the 'not fit for combat' quote. So much for my squidbearded mindflayer concept.

Damn!

What about the Demiurg, Qwerty? Did the book say anything about them?

CMMMMOOONNNN Squidbeard! No wammys!

Default Re: DEMIURG in 40k!

the demiurg was basically described as a dwarf with incredibly bright hair. their technology is far advanced to the imperiums with grungni (fantasy players may recognise the name) being not a particularly skilled mechanic being able to rig up a teleport device out of pieces found on the starship which seems to be much more effective than imperial technology. also similar to the adeptus mechanicus he has extensive mechanical enhancement including at least a bionic eye and a bionic fist, which extends on a chain to be used as a mace in combat. in combat he wears no armour but seems to be incredibly tough and aggressive, taking down an ork warboss, one on one. doesn't seem to have any psychic capabilties but does seem to be an awesome soldier in combat, very tough, very strong because of the bionics and incredibly fast besides having the teleport technology.
if you re making stats i would imagine marine or beyond. basic demiurg i think would be a marine with a 6+ armour save for his prssure suit but a 5+ inv. save for cyber enhancement like guard can take.

also im not sure but i believe that demiurg rode trikes into battle when they were around. not certain about that might have been squats or jokaero you'll have to ask someone whos been playing longer.

checked on the nicassar they seem to be made of black oily smoke.
hope i helped with as little rambling as possible (failed that bit

No offense taken at all. I just thought it was funny that I am getting old, and a fluff fan.

Sorry Rom, It just seemed outlandish. I guess its cool they put the Squats somewhere and didn't just erase them with white-out. I guess there IS demiurg in 40k, well, 2nd edition, haha.

When rom said "do you believe me lucky" he was referring to my screen name I think. He know full well his status as a veteran 40ker, if he is one. I don't doubt it but I haven't seen it.

And why haven't I seen this anywhere else? is it anywhere else other than that book? I'm gonna have to read it now...

And is there no place for a non-tyranid Squid-bearded dude? (Gotta love that adjective: Squidbeard.) Maybe the Hrud? Heard that name somewhere, anyone know anything about them? Also, The 40k rulebook has something in a picture in the Armies section called a Slanni (possibly lizard men) on Page 139. Anyone know anything about them? Any other races I should know about?

Thanks Guys!

well there are lots of smaller races that never got a codex....there has to be one for squidbearded dude (you re right it is fun to say).
for a start there are hrud, jokaero, jorgal, slann, cythor fiends, loxatl, nekulli, eslavers, laer, the old ones, saruthi, scythians, nicassar, zoats and maybe a couple more asirnoth maybe....
take your pic one of them had to have a squid beard.......well a couple can't cos their appearance is well known but some could.........
i haven't seen any references to them apart from on Lexicanum and in rise of the tau.
