Do you think Aun'Va looks like the prophet of regret from Halo?
He has the hovery chair, the freaky hat, the two guys trying to look all tough..

Yeah, there are distinct differences, but the same idea. Yet anyone playing Aun'va has an intense case of fluffitis or has no idea what "the ultimate price of failure" or doesn't know the power of the shas'o they could take instead with those 205 pts.

They take them so they can be a target. I have learned my lesson on trying to take them out.
Yes that ethereal does look alought like the prophits. The Carnifex also has a resemblance to the Star Craft Ultralisc but not nearly as drastic.

Yeah and even some of the fluff would say that the Tau wouldn't want to put their ethereals into danger in the first place.

hmmmm... granted i've never played any of the halo series (i'm a big NES nut!) but i always thought that aun'va looked more like the pope!

since the newer tau empire releases, i've been tempted to get aun'va and mount him onto a pirhana - instant pope mobile!!!

cheers!

Heh heh heh, thats a good one...

Etherals always have left me baffeled. If the Tau have such a respect for their Etherals, why stick them in the line of fire? It's just not a good idea! Leave the fighting to the guys who are bred to do it, not a robed guy with a stick!

Well for starters its always good to have an inspirational figure in command, such as an Ethereal. Also its probably a good idea to keep those pheremones around to enforce Ethereals command.

Well, it looks like Tau armies can fight perfectly well without an Etheral standing right next to them, so they don't seem that necesssary. Also, I would say Shas'O are inspirational too (but not as much as Etherals). I think the risk of them dying far outweighs any benefit of them taking part in the battle. Also, I find them annoying...

Same could be said about the Space Marine Chaiplans or the Imperial Guard Preists. It's like seeing a king on the battle feild in Midevil times. His presence made the men feel valued and doupled there determination, and he showed up because he wanted to be there just like the Ethereals.

They know the Tau forces can fight just fine without there preasence, but they need to show they care for there troops by seemingly puting there necks on the line.

Hmm, I suppose... though if their mind-control abilities are to be believed, I don't think the Tau are going to complain if they aren't on the battlefield. How many Etherals are there BTW? I guess its not many.

if i were to ever play a tau army, (not bloody likely mind!) i would probably include the ethereal for the fire warrior bodyguard! BS4 fire warriors are dead scary and it would free up some of those marker light hits for other units to use...

that and his inspiring presence rule is nifty! you only need a line of sight, so you can still deploy the ethereal at the back of your lines in some nice solid cover too!

cheers!

Hmm, makes a lot of sense... I've always thought he looked a bit strange... but how does he hide the hooves?

I'm not that keen of the Fire Warrior bodygaurd, though they are cool. I just think that a even a Shas'El with a Crisis suit bodygaurd is a so much better way to go. But then I do love Crisis suits...
