| So I've heard of this rule and its supposed to counter act CC attacks, but how does it work? I heard that tau fire warriors can fire 'under' the devilfish, but is it only them or can enemy troops fire back?

| Your Local Ori Prior ![]() ![]() | Basically, load a fish with 12 fire warriors armed with pulse rifles. Park the devilfish in front of them and unload them 12" away from your enemies troops and unleash hell. The devilfish is a skimmer, so you can fire under it, but if your opponent tries to assault your squad, they will have to go around the skimmer, because if they were to go under it, they would enter its zone of control and thus can not move unless going around. It effectively gives you two turns of rapid fire fun!

| ohh...so that does mean the enemy can still fire at my tau....so wait, then how this useful when going against bolter armed marines or any other unit with good ranged?...or is it not and the fish of fury was meant for CC orientated opponents?

| Your Local Ori Prior ![]() ![]() | It works pretty well against enemy ranged troops because if they do decide to shoot you, target priority checks are in order and there isnt much left after you do a fish of fury man. Dont worry about it so much!

Yes. Hence this is a counter Close combat maneuver. EXCEPT when you use it offensively, you can drive up to your enemies, and undeploy and unload double tap shots to your enemy. Key goal is to NEVER go unsupported. The whole tau army must function as one, or it will fail.

Blog Entries: 3 | Yes, you go in supported, present a lot of targets and threats, You mess with opponent's target priority, then he will either: SPREAD FIRE (Which is what you want) or Focus FIRE (Which could mean you have less things dead.. but important things dead.. could be bad) So make your whole army a threat. Tis the first step to powergaming.

Blog Entries: 2 | the functionis tow fold. 1) to protect your firewarriors/pathfinders by putting another target in the way to force a priority check to shoot the unit 2) to protect your firewarriors/pathfinders by maing the unit unavaible for assault. As Ikaurs pointed out,m if used correctly with backup (often putting tow units close enough to each other will give more firepower to your units and double the space around to your units (triple if both fishes are turned sideways)) the effects can be quite devastating to even the mighty space marines. The priority tests are nice when forced, but are able to be passed most of the time. The real benefit is getting as many shoots off as you can and keeping your opponent from assaulting you. |

| The point is to be the first to get into rapid fire range and draw first blood and thin out your oppenents numbers. You just pretty much screw up your oppenent by putting him between a rock and a hard place. He either ATTEMPTS to assault around your devil fish, or he rapid-fires back at ya and basically forfits his ability to assault you anyway.

| just be very warry of enemy deep strikers who can land behind your near-impregnable formation! for example, my 55pts heavy flamer sentinel w/armoured crew compartment makes an abolsute mess of any 'fish of fury' manouver! ![]() similarly, anything that can deep strike and bring those template and/or large blast templates to bear will murder you... (oh, and fear the necrons with their viel of darkness - it works a real charm too!) to counter this, you can always leave some crisis suits parked slightly back from your fire warriors, (ie: within about 6" - 8" of them). this makes the deep strike a very risky proposition as no deep strikers cannot come within 1" of an enemy model. granted there will still be those really psychotic players who'll take the risk like myself, but i find that the vast majority of players look upon deep striking as far too risky in anything but the 'ideally perfect' conditions! (ie: they have at least 13" clearance in every direction or else they have a teleport hommer or similar within about 6" of where they want to be!) cheers!

| its best against isolated units like fast movers rolling up your flank it works best with 2 squads in fish i like squads of 12 and i use the drones from the fish to pin the targets. if done right you can pin a squad and unload 24 shots into it if they are unable to move the next turn and survived the first barrage you can unload another 48 into them dont forget to mark them with the markerlights its very deadly but requires good timing and measurements if you are off you can loose 2 squads and 2 fish very fast

| well thanks for all the advice, I get how to do it now...but now I don't need to ^^;; I bought a rapid insertion force instead of a battleforce so, instead I now have 9 crisis suits.

| you're supposed to only use them in apoco because nine crisis suits are three elites, which completely fills the force org chart and are probably worth a lot of pts (I haven't calculated them yet). But they seemed so cool so I bought it. Since kenshin and I are still playing with force org chart in play, I had to move some troops around to allow them in, I'm also converting one to be a commander.
