right well my little brother wants to start the tua but he never makes his mind up just wondering if any one has some advice to give him as i dont realy play the tua thanks

First advice: TAU CODEX

Now, i`m in a big hurry so i`ll jsut give general advices, Tau Firewarriors really are the backbone of your army until you get to 1000+ points armies

For 500p all he needs is a Commander (someone else will have to detail weaponry), 2 full suqads of fireawarriors (with bonding knives since they don`t cost that much) and kroot for all the points left

Kroot are there as a fire sponge while the commander + Fire Warriors fire away

personally, i don't find kroot that usefull except to perhaps annoy opponents by forcing a target priority test or two... (mind, like facing kroot as they die in droves!)
instead, use those pts to better kit-out your fire warriors. make sure each squad has a marker light in it. i hate marker lights! they are annoying things which make fire warriors far too accurate for my guardsmen's tasts!!!

a sniper team is a must in any tau army! railrifles are great space marine killers, and combined with your fire warriors' marker lights, the sniper teams become utterly lethal...

as for the commander, for now keep him cheap. i suggest you magnatise his hardpoints so you can swap out various weapon/support systems! for 500pts games, stick your anti-tank onto your commander; fusion blaster & missile pod make for a decent combo that can handle any armour you'll com across!
