| If possible, avoid GW brushes... ask hairy for more details, but they're supposed to be terrible. If you want, there are cheaper paints out there too, as well as glues and clippers... just go to your local DIY store/hobby store... ask for plastic glue or whatever the sciency name is (ployestrine cement???). The hobby knife... well you can just use a sharp kitchen knife or even a pocket knife... that's what I'm using... also do you really need all those dice? D6's are really cheap... like 50 cents a piece or less at my rogue trader... pick up 10 (you'll need 'em with 48 fire warriors) that should be all the dice you need. Everything else... looks fine.

Buy cheap primer at wal mart Soak mini's in slightly soapy water before painting Take care of your brushes Paint in sunlight Buy plain old dice And that's it? Ikarus come back ![]() |

Blog Entries: 1 | If you can't paint then don't bother trying to make your entire army look good. Paint it to battle top standards and then pick out squad leaders / characters for special attention. Most of my stuff is batch painted trash and then I single out bits for extra attention. If you look at my Chaos or Dwarves it is especially prominent. As to bits, ask your family for a tape measure if you haven't got one yet, they are bound to have an old one lying around somewhere and its not like you are doing precision achitecture. As to dice game stores tend to sell pots of thirty or more for dirt cheap as replacements for board games. Try some stores like that. Glue, get plastic glue, it is so worth it even if people say super glue does the job.

| I picked up a Tau army a couple years ago. I think I've got: 1.) 2 Teams of Fire Warriors 2.) Devilfish 3.) Hammerhead 4.) 3 Crisis Suits 5.) Custom Made Shadowsun Figure 6.) Stealth Team 7.) Kroot Speed Bumps 8.) Some Gun Drones 9.) Broadside Crisis Suit You won't believe how hardcore my firewarriors have been. I've gone up against my roommate's Phoenix Lord Battlebob (don't ask) with them and one... twice. Granted, Battlebob had been chewed up by my other units a couple times, but still... pretty good experience with them. Kroot are ok... great if you need to "pad" your army, but not much else. My Hammerhead has not fared well in the sorties I've fielded it in... mostly from bad rolls for me and good rolls for the roomie... and I think I may've done something bonehead tactically once or twice. Other then that, the Crisis Suits are solid, and the Stealth Teams are nice... I enjoy Shadowsun especially when she can "hit and run" from close combat. | Thanks, is the high cost of shadowsun and farsight worth it? Ikarus doesn't think so. And i don't like stealth teams much, they don't really appeal to me |

| I've enjoy my games more since I added Shadowsun to my army. Whether that's from my skill having improved or from Shadowsun's addition is another matter. I know I prefer having her to the old set up where I had a crisis suited leader and two bodyguards. Now I just have a crisis team. A huge thing for me is her ability to "hit and run". It annoyed me to no end that once you were in close combat, you're in close combat unless you want to risk being annihilated. And with Tau not exactly being sturdy close combat masters, that's something I like to avoid... but paired with (I think they were) fusion blasters, she can run and gun and melt armored enemies fairly well. |

| She does have some point requirements (like, 1500 pt minimum army), but she also can give her leadership score to any nearby units making a leadership check too... I forget the range that goes out to, I think it's 6-12 inches max. Don't take my word for it, definitely look at her stats in the Tau codex because I'm probably missing something in all my enthusiasm... ![]() |

| You equip her the special equipment "Vectored-Retro Thrusters" found on page 28. Also, given the choice between her and Farsight, I like her better. In my experience, I've found having at least one anti-armor tau unit is an enormous blessing, especially when fighting Seath_TT's wraithlord... I think it was his wraithlord. I don't remember, for sure. I'm a once a month weekend warrior when it comes to 40k. |

nice point minmax but do special charicters count twards there own point limit (ie could a 1400 point army field a special character that was over 100 point cost that required a 1500 point list to be fielded

| I don't really like that she can't take her drones with her. Is she better at killing tanks then a hammerhead? Seems to risky, unless it's to kill a whirlwind i hear that is so evil to the tau. Also is it only seeker missiles that have a limit to how many you can fire? |

| Um... she gets two shield drones and a command link drone. The command link drone gives all Tau units within 18 inches of her(not kroot, vespid, etc) the opportunity to use her Leadership bonus for morale/pinning/targeting checks. She also gets two shield drones... and when those are gone, she's an independent character. Sounds pretty good to me! A hammerhead's base cost is 90, with a range of like 125-160 pts. Personally, I like Shadowsun at 175 who's a lot hard to see and hit. Pop out, fire, and then go back behind cover. |
