| well, what do your opponent's normally use? if say the space marines start loading up on land speeder tornoados w/assault cannons and/or pred annihilators w/lascannons, then consider a 'fex w/tein-linked venom cannon & enhanced senses. more accurate and stronger than a tyrant, and really you only want to stop those tanks shooting anyways! this is also your best counter vs a monolith as rending won't work! S10 means you'll glance about 50% of the time, and with 2 shots re-rolling to-hit rolls, you're pretty much assured a roll on the glancing hits table! conversely, if your opponent's like charging forwards, just go for a cheap yet effective assaulty 'fex; 2x scything talons and your adrenal glands plus toxic miasma... like i said cheap and it give those nasty power fists something expendable to swat! (unlike your more precious synapse gribblies and/or 'stealers!) basically as a 'nid opponent, cheap yet well defined 'fexes scare me alot more than a fully tooled-up monster as the cheap one is just as hard to down, but much less rewarding as it's worth so few pts! cheers!

| Conscript ![]() | i agree with experiment 626 - three dirt cheap carnifexes can easily be had for well under 350 points and getting through 12 wounds at t6 isnt the easiest thing. considering that a really tooled up carnifex can come it at over 250 points and will have t7 and 5 wounds at best, id say the cheap carnies are a better investment. id normally recoment shooty carnifexes, though i much prefer combat carnifex models. im assuming you have a theme going in the army and stick with that |

| 2x scything talons with initiative adrenal glands>>>point at terminators and let em off the leash. they go before powerfists and if charging will generally take down 3-4 in a turn. that pays for itself! antitank carnifex>>crushing claws, scything talons, tusked. world O' hurt for guard armies |

Blog Entries: 4 | Its normaly a waste of points to take the upgraded save and increased toughness as the things your opponents will be shooting at you will normaly negate these-least from my experience with my regular opponents! But people will go to extrodinary lengths to destroy a Fex! |

| The Omnissiah ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Yea, thats so true. i played against the tau once, and they fired nearly all they had in range against my carnifex and winged hive tyrant. Luckly the dice gods were with me that day. The player forgot about all my hormagaunts, and I slaughtered them all! Mwaha ha ha Anyways, its so funny when you play against a noob sometimes. |

Blog Entries: 4 | When I first started my Nid army I used to take fully tooled up Fex's all the time-costing 200 points+ these were real beasts (incresed armour/toughness/wounds and regenerateing-the whole shebang!) they regularly used to stomp round the field getting shot by every Las Cannon in sight-I since discovered my opponents got so used to me taking these beasts that I could take a far less costly version and they would still fear it just as much, leaving me free to charge 32 unmolested Hormagaunts straight into there lines-delicious! |

| honestly, i would never bother with the armour increase simply because there are so many ap2 weapons out there! however, there seems to be far fewer ap3 weapons and thus, you're not really losing out by not going for that shiny 2+ save! (and now you also have even more pts to spend on other gribblies )cheers!

Blog Entries: 4 | No use the little rare earth (Neodymium)magnets you can get on ebay-the hold rock solid but let you interchange the weapons layout. You can use them on all sorts of models-not just Fex's and Hive Tyrants! They take a little skill to fit but can be well worth it-can also make it easier to transport youre models (less spiky bits sticking out) |

Blog Entries: 4 | Not too expensive about £5 should get you plenty of the size you need (they come in different thicknesses and diameters). Have a look on ebay there are hundreds to choose from! |
