Blog Entries: 5   | I run an all genestealer army. i have yet to lose, though i usually take heavy losses in turn 1 and 2, i masacre their army in 3-6 so it works for me

  | I haven't fought a pure strain brood since second edition...and they are nasty....fought a 'cleanse style mission and survived with two termie squads (both at less than 50%) and my Rune priest...lost everything else including the two preds I fielded...but cleansed the table none the less... All I can say is Stealers are NASTY  critters...

| ive played WITH and AGAINST an all stealer army. using it, i destroyed a slow-moving 1k sons force. the stealers got into cover and weathered the hail of bolter shots, then got a lucky fleet roll and got in there quickly and tore it up. playing against it i also won. i had a librarian w/ fury of the ancients and the rest (only 600 points) was a pure gun line of marines with 3 flamers. they got massacred. noone even got in range of the flamers! the stealers weakness is their points. give em the 4+ save so you can get a save against bolters and you take less of em so it kinda cancels out... what my friend did next was take a carnifex as a meat sheild (quite effective, cause you cant just IGNORE a fex!) but it doesnt count as a vanguard force. lictors in a larger army would also be effective. but because im rambleing...what would constitute a vanguard nid force? hq-broodlord elites-lictors troops-stealers FA-gargoyles? definatly spore mines HS-none? |

| I miss the old version...having a MAGUS was just plain wickedness incarnate...(and made for a pretty nasty HQ in and of himself)... IMO GW screwed over the broods when they made em nids...

| i've played against a 'stealer-heavy army before... very little synapse because the 'stealers are all Ld10 which really made all the difference for me! 1st turn i wiped out the 3 warriors so only had a broodlord & company to deal with later... then i simply proceeded to treat the remaining 'stealers like i would any other army; gun a unit down to below 50% unit strength then move onto the next unit. with Ld9, those broods did fail a couple 'instinctive behavior' tests which led to a very disjointed assault which my guardsmen could simply hamdel through sheer numbers! the broodlord was a bit of a pill, but clever unit usage sorted him out. i simply fed him a cheap platoon command squad and pulled everyone else back 7" away from the death gribbly! the 5 guardsmen died horrible, painfull deaths, and mr.tenticle face was left standing with his mates out in the open in front of a guard gunline! the 'fexes ate me though... T7 hurts guardsmen alot! still, i'd managed to pull a few unit away and at least contest my table quarter while capturing another so it turned out to be a closely-fought minor victory for the guard! cheers!

| Never seen a pure 'stealer army...sounds really nasty...and really FUN! I have heard of an all Warrior army...back when ya could have weapon-beasts. warriors for HQ and Elites, flying warriors for fast attack, and warrior broods with weap-beast for more venom cannons for the heavy support slots. ...the troops...haha, nothing but rippers...lotsa rippers... I think there was about 100 or so models total...
