Well, they're from the same genus, yes...but they're not as "flexible" as the warriors and have been specifically bio-engeneered for close assaults. This makes them faster than the basic warrior, and therefor they tend to operate as a vanguard organism, hitting the prey before the rest of the swarm.
...but it would be nice if they did have synapse ability...
