Blog Entries: 4 | Does any one actualy use spore mines (as an actual Fast Attack army list choice)? Are they seen as a waste of points or a good points filler? Ive never used them-I dont even have a biovore (I have some Forge World Mycettic spores but dont use them as they are Forge World-non codex) and was wondering what the general opinion on them was, as I like to constantly change my army and playing style (I know my army well so this is somthing I can easily do) to keep my opponents guessing and thought they would be somthing new to try!So is it worth it? |

Biovores- I would take on big games, you have a fat mass, with big bugs. You take 3x biovores and keep raining spores down to annoy your enemy and make him waste some shots taking out three. Fast attack spores will serve the save purpose, except its a one shot deal and takes up any remaining FA slots I do not fill. Its all in scare tactics and keeping the enemy busy ![]()

Blog Entries: 4 | Thats what I was thinking-somthing totally different and somthing to scare my opponents back lines-normally with no artillery his rear echelon is safe as its to packed/dangerous to bring in Raveners and Lictors. Sit back and give them a taste of being shelled for a change! Im warming to the idea! |

| some might call it a cheap tactic, but you could always pick a nicely clumped-up enemy unit as the entry point for any deep striking spores... roll a hit on the scatter die and the spores will counts as destroyed, and thus explode over the enemy unit! people will yell at you for that though, but then, they shouldn't be leaving valuable units all bunched together in base-to-base now should they?! cheers!

| Cheap, annoying, useless little distractions to fill up points. That's the way to use them. And YES, it IS their OWN fault for bunching units together when you bring deep-striking bombs. (if they get thick with you just shove a codex in their face) ![]()

![]() also, if you know you'll be facing alot of deep strikers - go for 2nd turn. this way, you can get the most out of your spores as you'll bring them in after the enemy has come down, but *before* they can properly deploy their units into more favourable formations!!! cheers!

| Or you just have opponents who bunch their men together for no concieveable reason. Obliterating a 250pt command squad with but one bio-acid mine is great fun. Or when you hit a rhino and it blows up so bad all the men inside die. MAN AND TANK BECOME ONE!! ![]()

| if you deep strike spore mines on top of a unit, that wouldnt be cheese or anything. the thing that fired them / released them aimed them at something right? maybe it was at those two units of terminators right next to each other! |

basically it's the age old, 'but why can't i have something similar to balance your precision-guided living bombs?!' i simply look at it as, 'well, this will teach you not to bunch up so much when fighting tyranids now won't it?!!' cheers!

you don't want to know what i've done with the books of pain!*evil grin*this question came up during games day, and as phil told the guy who asked, he's; a) a dirty, sneaky player! (but that's only a good thing )b) this tactic is pretty much the original ploy they had in mind when it was decided that spore mine units were staying in the new codex!! hmmmm... looks like i'll have to tinker some more with my 'nid list and look at getting a barrage of spore mines in there now! (i know someone who likes to school poor, defenseless noobs with a cheesy lysander's wing army... time for some devine xenos justice me thinks!!!) cheers!
