They can be made to hurt light tanks/transports but its expensive for what is essentialy cannon fodder.

In both of these choices I must ask the question of why the 2+ save? There are more AP2 weapons than AP3, and thus, its not really worth the points unless the only form of tank hunting your enemy has is krak missiles.

Though you say this guy is a tank hunter... he really isn't, in fact, your best tank hunter is your Winged Tyrant. This guy is tooled for anti-personall. The best 'nid tank hunter is a 'fex twin-linked barbed strangler with ehnanced senses and toxin sacs, well at least IMHO.

So what ya think?
I've posted my opions of each unit as an indivual above... now for an overall look.

You have 5 Syanpse creatures for 6 gaunt squads and 2 'fexes... not ideal. You need more syanpse. How to do this? I would drop a warrior squad, add one warrior to your remaining squad and spend the rest of those points on 'thropes, cheap synpase beasties that you can scatter about your gaunts.

Also, you have little tankhunting. Though in 1500 this may or may not be a problem, against armor heavy armies you will have problems, most of your units can only take out AV10, not good. So I would suggest a better, more ovious ranged tankhunting 'fex. That, plus your Winged Tyrant should be good for this army.

I agree add an extra Warrior to the brood it gives them that extra survivability and increase the area their Synapse web can be spread across!I tend to take my warriors in broods of four+ nowadays.

zoantheropes are best for warpblast
with 2 tyrants and 2 warriors, you will have more than enough coverage. with the 2nd tyrant though, consider having 2 sets of twin linked devourers. they can pump out alot of shots, and you already have a CC tyrant.
if you do that, drop bio-plasma in favor of warp blast. thats a big shooty bug of death.

i'd even up all the numbers on your gaunt broods... having thrashed one of our local 'nid players rather frequently, the 'nids really need to optimise each unit as they have a tough time claiming objectives and maintaining scoring unit status!
the only this really doesn't apply to is warriors as you count actual wounds - not models! so escencially, warriors will always be even-numbered because of their 2 wounds/model...

and i agree about losing the extended carapace on the big gribblies... they're going to be taking mainly plasma, lascannons, lances and railgun shots which are all ap2 or better weapons! so why waste the pts on a save you're likely never to take?!

Have you ever suffered the indignity of having a monstrous creture fall to las and bolt weapons. (Once I faced an IG army that fired every big gun it had at my Tyrant. Two turns this did nothing. The officer with the bolt pistol and three squads of basic guardsmen took him down then in one turn )
Besides everyone I face bring tonnes of missile launchers which, in the hands of a Bs4 marine, knock big guys down fast.

well, i've lost 4 out of 5 termies to 10 lasguns that weren't rapid firing! and i've also failed cypher's special 4+ invulnerable save on 3D6!!!

anyways, alot too depends on the mood/fethishes in your area... if you face a severe lack of ap2 weapons, but lots of ap3, then by all means extened carapace is a great buy!
however, my area for example is rife with the las/plas lovers and hoards of assault cannons. this is why i cautioned along with a couple others about taking an expensive upgrade like ex.carapace...

i have a plasma cannon fetish myself 0_^
but on carnifexes and tyrants, extended carapace doesnt do much. those lascannons are killer. on genestealers though, instead of scuttlers, its awsome. you get a save against bolters =]

For some reason lascannons are viewed with a strange suspision over here.

Possibly because my friend ended up drop-kicking an ig aross the room after the first time ever it hit (in about 4 months of use) it rolled a 1 to wound my broadside...

That poor guardsman seeing such an unfit execution. When a model truly and i mean truly fails me on multiple ocasions(it's only happened once) i shoot it with an air rifle. Much more satisfation. I do agree with 626 on the extended carapace for the geenstealers.

Unfortunatly we did not have access to any form of fire-arms at the time so we had to make due.

As for the stealers. I find they make very pricy targets and a 4+ save will only protect them so much.
In 2000pts when there are juicier targets to shoot at I will bring Stealers.

Sitting in the middle of hundreds of gaunts and gargoyles with the occasional sprinkle of monstrous creature thrown in they suddenly don't look all that important form the other side of the field. That is until they hit you...

i have only had to execute a model once. plasma gunner, and every time i used him (over 3 months) he rolled a one to hit and melted. i promptly replaced the gun with a bolter, because it was obviously faulty (not ryza equipment at all....) and strapped it to a bottle rocket. nuff said. anger managment=good

I have a friend who regularly executes models/CDs/little cousins by throwing them down the stairs.
The most recent victim was a unit of Daemonites when he found out they need to be in ranks 5 models wide thanks to the new rule book.

Other victims...A Mars class battle cruiser, A Chaos rhino, Uncountable members of an all converted Imperial guard army that refused to turn out right.
