you are on here a lot and mainly my most frequent reply (on all threads) and have a LOT of good knowledge. thanks. when we are done here we can work on that shooty SM army you had in mind. i already have one but could probably use some tweaks.

So if i am reading this correctly, drop 2 of the mycetic stealers and give em scuttlers. save about 32 pts in total. what else could i drop? the toxin sacs?

i like tosin sacs, though with Rending, they do seem redundant (if yo uget an ideal phase wit hrending the toxin sacs will be useless). id go for feeder tendrils, or just drop them entirely.

with the extra points you can either get more stealers (unless you like your units to all be the same size, like me ) or beef up the combat hive tryant

EditL the HQ HT does have the full complement of tyrant guard so should be quite tough, thoug hwithout wings, ill take hima few turns to get into combat. hmm

with 5 scuttling stealers, you can probably affort to have the last unit with nothing, to save some points. that might get you enough points for some hormagaunts (a cheap expendable unit to hopefully draw fire away from the tyrant), some rippers to keep near the biovores, or more spores.

as it stands my SM force is 2300 pts before armament, so i would like to get this list down to about 2500 and that one up to about 2500 so i have 2 even forces. then i can start my nurgle CSM army.....
Diferent topic though. so drop the sacs and keep the tendrils. lets see, that drops 216 pts off. that should do it.

HQ

234 pts + 50 Mycetic Spore
284 PTS

1 Hive Tyrant (Enhanced Senses, Extended Carapace, Toxin Sacs, 2 Venom Cannons)190 PTS

Fast Attack
3x Clouds of 3 Bio-acid Spore Mines (for that really annoying DS Termie Unit) 108 PTS

Troops
1 Brood of 12 Genestealers (ST, RC, FT) 288 + 50 SPORE 338 PTS
5x Broods of 12 Genestealers(ST, RC, Feeder Tendrils, Scuttlers)
1044 PTS

Heavy Support
3x Biovores with Bio-Acid Mines 165 PTS

Elites

I think the adding to a unit or two of that particular upgrade would be very nice. I'd like to take my Custodes against this force when I build them. It would be a most interesting game!

Also, you could always try to squeeze more bdoies in. I'm no 'nid champion, so I don';t know what to suggest. But I'm a Russian trained strategist, so I always like more bodies.

Funny enough, i'm taking computer programming and what not, and pending IP and other laws am going to try and cook one up.

But, OT... I would suggest a mix of sacs and bodies, if at all possible. Or limited use of sacs where they would be most effective, and avoid that re-dundancy mentioned by the D_C.

well, by all means LMK if you come up with a way to do it. I have some experience in programming and have also heard of a program called vessel 40k that is being experimented with.
thanks,
Steve

wow. i leave thi thread for a few hourse and those stealers have multiplied!

72 stealers is a lot! though i still think against a shooty army of equal points you will struggle. it is hard to say though, wit hall those scuttlers and the lictors too.

only way to say is to actually play a game or two! if worse comes to worse, you can always playagainst yourself. hell, ive done it before!

ARGGGGGGG!!!!! went into the battlefield and found something that is rather disturbing.

I didnt need the 2nd HT, the Biovores are Synapseless ALREADY.

Well, we'll see how it goes.

Biovores have Brood Telepathy, like Genestealers, so they don't follow the rules for Synapse.

Although if they were synapse dependent you could park them in the a big woodland, choose the Lurk command instead of moving every turn.
Then they could still fire indirectly and get +1 cover save.

Sadly, they don't follow those rules and take morale and pinning like any normal troops.

EDIT: Curse you...you found this out by yourself not too long ago.
Oh well, just remember the potential advantages of having a brood run on instintive behaviour.

Sniperfexes..2 of 'em behind hard cover but with a good field of fire. That's 2 v-can shots and a pie plate blast for each on anything within 36". Gives the rest of the swarm a bit more bite if ya can soften 'em up before an assault.

They aren't, not the new one anyway. They're in the old dex if I remember correctly... or maybe a white dwarf article? Or did I just dream the whole thing...

They are not "Official" though in any way and you need your opponents permission to use Mycetic Spores (fat chance of that happening).
