| leman russ Youth When the Primarchs were spread throughout the galaxy by the forces of Chaos, one came to land in the far north west of the galaxy on a remote ice world named Fenris. If it had been any normal person, then he would have certainly died in the ice wastes almost immediately. He was supposedly picked up by a Fenrisian she-wolf and raised among the wolves, with his two wolf brothers Freki and Geri. One extreme winter, the wolves attacked a village and stormed into the food storage facilities. The villagers fought off the wolves, but Leman Russ fought them off so viciously that all of his brothers escaped alive. The villagers sent for a raiding party to remove this menace for good with poisoned arrows and knives sharp enough to slice through oak. This raiding party killed many of the pack, including the she-wolf. Leman Russ was shot many times, and then captured, bound and gagged and thrown in front of the king, Thengir. Leman Russ proved himself to be better than just another wolf, and was eventually taken in by the king himself. He was taught to use a battle axe, to fish and soon to speak. He matured quickly and showed a natural aptitude for weaponry. He was quick to roar with laughter or sing tunelessly and he slowly realized that he was more human than wolf, but superior to both. Eventually, Leman Russ became sufficiently civilized to warrant a true name. This is where he gained his name, Leman Russ. Later in his life, he is said to have been able to turn back whole armies of the king's enemies by himself without a scratch, to lift whole oak trees and snap them over his back, and to wrestle Fenrisian Mammoths to the ground. When King Thengir died, there was no question as to who should succeed him. Therefore, King Leman Russ took to the throne. He was said to have been the best leader, no one could stand against him and it was not long before his fame spread to Terra. The Emperor came, but knew he could not have Russ without beating him in a contest. He entered Leman Russ's court, cloaked in runes of disguise and confusion. The natives shrunk from this new presence. The first meeting was tense, but they agreed to a set of challenges, the Emperor not having revealed himself yet. The first challenge was an eating one. This the Emperor eventually lost as Russ managed to out eat him slightly. The second challenge was a drinking one. This the Emperor also failed, as Russ drank the entire feast out. The third challenge was more to the Emperor's liking, a combat trial. Russ fought bravely, but he could not beat the Emperor, and fought him to a draw. Russ then, after a period of recovery, swore fealty to the Imperium. Just weeks later, Russ joined his armies in the Great Crusade. He was armed with a thrice blessed suit of armour and a new sword forged from the maw of the Great Kraken Gormenjarl and, apparently, the blade could cleave the ice mountains of Fenris in half. Horus Heresy Many years passed, and many more battles. Thousands of worlds were reconquered into the Imperium, but eventually the golden age came to an end. The Horus Heresy and Leman Russ were intertwined to begin with, but they were absent from the final battles. The Emperor sent Leman Russ and his Space Wolves to deal with Magnus the Red and the Thousand sons legion, that the Emperor believed to be the true heretic. Prospero was assaulted and bombarded, thousands died within days. In the final battle between Russ and Magnus, it is said that Russ blinded Magnus and then broke the Cyclops' back, and just as Russ was about to deliver the final blow, Magnus said a word of power and sunk into the ground. Years after the heresy Russ disappeared leaving only his helm and the words "In the end I will be there. For the final battle. For the Wolf Time." The tale of his disappearance is retold every thousand years by the dreadnought bjorn the fell handed, the oldest dreadnought still in service. He is said to have served with Russ ten thousand years before. Every few years, the Space Wolves embark on what is called the great hunt, where they search the galaxy for their missing leader. Though they have searched far and wide, they still haven't found any sign of Leman Russ. Sacred Objects Wolf helm of russ Spear of russ |

| doesnt look good to me. russ didnt disapear, he left with the 13th company (didnt mention them at all) into the eye of terror. the wolves dont go on a great hunt, they create an expidition to search for him, this is the equivilant of a normal chapters company. the '13th legion' in the eye of terror campaign is one of these. GW considered bringing back russ as a non-playable fluff thing in the campaign, but decided not to. too much of a shake up (stupid IMHO) back on topic though. Freki and Geri came back to him, and were his loyal companions in battle. you also didnt even mention his fight with the lion. you left out alot of big things. i cringe as i look at the corax article.... |

| The Great Wolf ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | For a start it looks good to me... However Dan is correct that some things were left out... But I must also point out that GW has changed the fluff on the 13th company more than once.It was said that Russ sent them after the Thousand sons. But it is also said that the term 13th company has come to represent all those great companies that have been lost since the first followed the renegades into the warp...to include those companies that have foresaken their oaths of fealty... As for Russes disappearing...it is said that after a great feast he rose after receiving a vision, and left the fang that his wolves (personal retinue except for Bjorn the Fellhanded)went with him, and he simply stated that he would be back for the wolf time, And yes The wolves do go on great hunts, Bjorn called for three, of which two (I believe) brought back artifacts. Over the centuries other great hunts for the Russ have been called by other masters of the chapter, some wolflord or wolfpriest getting a vision and the chapter going on a hunt, 'spreading through the stars in search of their master and lord' I believe is how one GW article put it. So although not complete...a good start Cap...

| Forgot the Wolf belt of russ, and I think a part of his armour they found in the warp. Also after he left they set his spot at the feast for so long then went out in the warp to search for him and found his armour. Think its straight out of the dex.

Blog Entries: 5 | Erak... Please.. This thread has been dead way too long and you basically just re-stated what Wolfpack and others commented on with slight addition. Do NOT revive threads this long dead unless you have something of use or something original to contribute. Consider this your friendly warning.

Blog Entries: 5 | Eh.. Splitting hairs there. They didn't state the specific artifacts, but they stated artifacts were found, etc... Just, make sure you try to refrain from posting on long dead topics when your contribution is minimalistic. Know you're just trying to help, but this whole project was scrapped as nothing but a Wikipedia rip off anyway.

| The Great Wolf ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Erak...my young pup...you must really brush up on your fluff...there is no BELT of Russ, there are several...in fact there is one for each of the great companies...these are counted as iron halos in games terms and they were fashioned by Stef Blacksoul after the disappearance of Russ based on the belt that Russ wore... You are correct that there was an article a while back that said that part of Russ's armor was found...however it is kept in the vaults of the fang and never sees the light of day as it is 'one of the holiest of relics held by the chapter in it's massive vaults'...only a few of the Great Wolves house know of the items kept in the Great Vaults...and only a very few outsiders (1 or 2 if you follow the novels)have ever been near them...
