Default PreHeresy DeathGuard

I just realised i know nothing about ol` papy`s sons.

Neither before or after they met him

So... could you feel me in on the details?

And some pictures of their old looks would really be apreciated

Yup, too lazy to wiki it

But hey, we need topics, don`t we?

well one of them i think his name is gorro or gordo not sure... is the bases and might actually be the first grandmaster of the grey knights. according to the horus heresy collectors vision he was one of the few loyal deathguard aboard the eisenstein that went to warn the emperor of the death guard and horus.

he met with malcador and dorn and he even killed a greater daemon of nurgle.

I don't think he is so much a GK grandmaster (GK were between 2nd and Cursed founding as the Index Astartes states) but rather the =I= itself.

Erus, could you dig up some links to more pre-heresy Emperor's Children? Those were some awsome pics by the way, ma favorite was the pre-heresy World Eater Assault Marine!

i guess they used jet packs instead of jumpjets (if there is a difference) preheresy artwork that is canon seems to make the marines alot wider than the models do today

I also noticed that and wondered if there was a difference...hmmm... well thanks a bunch Erus for the digging process. I, for some reason, looked in all the Google, Ask.com, and Yahoo image searches and came up with nothing....

I also like the WorldEaters assault marine

If anyone here played DoW and also watched the demo for SC2 (don`t burn me yet) won`t you agree Raptors and ASM should work more like the ones in SC2 than DoW?!

now back to the deathguard, i`ve seen some other models... well, more like sculptures and they insisted on the leaders wielding a scythe Is that a trade mark?

As for gw books my only chance is online order

yeah im not understanding those terms as well. must lurk more i guess.

wait wait wait...... you mean StarCraft II right? and ASM is Assault Space Marines? oh gotcha.

dont really know what your talking about at the moment.

i would say that the scythe is the trademark of the death guard and nurgle.

Sickness has killed more than all the wars combined. Also their primarch weilds a scythe so they tend to follow him.

Starcraft 2

Assault space marines

You`ve got it

In starcraft 2 you now get ASM`s and they work better than the ones in Dawn of War.

I mean, they glide small distances, jump a little, autojump over hills, walls, gaps, trenches and they even shoot like a bolter should (not like a machinegun).

http://youtube.com/watch?v=pr78ZawF3...elated&search= here`s a video

...... well remember this blizzard and Games Workshop are two completly different things. if one says an ASM is this and the other says it this we have to go with GW

you didn`t get it.

It`s not GW vs BLIZZARD i`m talking about, it`s RELIC vs BLIZZARD :P

I`m just saying that blizzard`s interpretation is better

as to your bolter comment a bolter is a fully automatic weapon. In numerous Black Library books are Space Marines depicted switching their bolters from Semi-auto to auto.

I KNOW!

But they only use full auto in dow

It takes away the impact of the weapon

They could keep the same dps but have them shoot at least in bursts

I mean, seeing a guardsman take 20 hits and still standing isn`t really nice

The only time it is appropriate for a Death Guard to be wielding a scythe is if he is one of the TWO of Mortarions personal bodyguard, the Dethshroud (name and number may be slightly off, it is in the Flight of E, so check there, I know it's single digit though!). So, given that... I don't see why they would be leading a force of SM, as they are Mortarions bodyguard. The scythe to Pre-Heresy Deathguard was a very honored talisman of honor and esteem, given their primarch granted you one.

as for your question as to what the pre-heresy death guard were like, their tactics were much as they are post-heresy, minus the boils, blisters, bloating, and general papa-ness.

they had few tanks, mostly sloggers, and would advance through a hail of gunfire to cut down the enemy in short range fire-fights, then finish em off in brutal assaults.
they used the same methods they did as mortarion used to free his homeworld, the name of which escapes me ATM.

and for some reason, even though they cant have heavy bolters, around half the artwork depicting Death Gaurd (post heresy) depicts them with, yes, heavy bbolters. Adrian Smith is the main artist guilty of this henious act...

id love my death guard to have heavy bolters, so muchso that i have a unit of havocs with 4 HB's that i use as counts as plasma guns
