| youth When the Emperor began his Great Crusade to reunite the galaxy he created the Primarchs, superhuman warriors to lead his Space Marines across the galaxy. The powers of Chaos stole the primarchs, but unable to destroy them, set them astray in the Warp. The infant Sanguinius came to rest upon the planet of Baal, sporting small cherub like wings. Adopted by a tribe of humans known as the 'People of the Pure Blood' or simply 'The Blood', Sanguinius, like all Primarchs, grew quickly and soon excelled all his teachers and was capable of mighty feats of strength and endurance. He was also said to have psychic powers, especially the ability to divine the future. Sanguinius was able to forsee the Emperor's arrival on Baal and the two met upon the surface. Sanguinius bowed his knee before the Emperor and pledged his service to the Imperium. The Emperor had already created a chapter of Space Marines using Sanguinius's gene-seed and thus Blood Angels were finally united with their Primarch. The Great Crusade During the Emperor's Great Crusade, Sanguinius and Horus became close brothers and it was said that they were closer than any of the other Primarchs. Supposedly Horus appointed Sanguinius to be the new Warmaster should he have died on Davin. He was a voice that Horus listened to during the incident with the Interex, shortly after Horus became Warmaster and was generally the one with the most sway with Horus, after the Emperor. Horus Heresy Before Horus' treachery was revealed, he sent Sanguinius to a world named Signum. There he was ambushed by hordes of daemons, badly damaging his Legion, with a Bloodthirster even managing to wound the Primarch himself. Eventually they succeeded in beating the daemons back and withdrew to Terra. In the Battle of Terra, Sanguinius fought valiantly, organizing the final defense of the Imperial Palace and holding the Ultimate Gate alone when no others would withstand the horror of the assault, even breaking the same Bloodthirster who wounded him on Signum over his knee. When the Emperor teleported aboard Horus' Battle Barge, the Vengeful Spirit, Sanguinius was with him but they became separated and the Primarch was forced to face Horus first. Even in the pit of Horus's tainted and mutated Chaos fueled Battle Barge did Sanguinius try to revert his Brother to the side of the Emperor, using their old friendship as a lever. Horus would not listen to or agree with any of Sanguinius' words and the two argued and tried to sway the other to the side of the heresy they were stood upon. Sanguinius was eventually struck down by Horus, the only damage Sanguinius doing was creating a small denture in Horus' armour. Some say, however, that it was this chip that allowed the Emperor to finally defeat Horus during their battle. Sanguinius body was taken by the Imperial forces as they retreated from the buckling Chaos Barge and his body was borne away to his home planet Baal, where he was buried deep within a vast tomb whose doors were topped with massive Angel effigies in honor of the fallen Primarch. “Three Legions of Marines stand to defend you, sire. All of us will unflinchingly place ourselves between you and the war’s desolation. We are the greatest humans ever born – we are the flame of Humanity where the rest of the galaxy is just the spark. In centuries of warfare, against the vileness of the alien, the lies of the heretic, the foulness of the mutant, I have never known fear – but your silence terrifies me.” -- Primarch Sanguinius of the Blood Angels. | Sanguinius was NOT warped by the powers of Chaos at all. Where in the feth did you get that info? I think from now on, it would be a good idea to cite where your drawing you info from. Russ had fnags past his lips, but no one said he was warped by Chaos. The Wings were there since birth, and do not necessitate Chaos interference. I have checked, and nowhere in any book I have does it say the wings were Chaos-wrought, so please keep conjecture from aritcles. Edit: I have went ahead and taken the liberty of fixing this mistake. Also, I don't know how you want to word it, but the part about Horus' armor is B.S. and nowhere to be found as well, so you'll want to take that out as well. A chip in Horus armor woulda mattered squat to the Emperor taking him out, as his final blow was PSYCHIC. Last edited by Lord Commander Erus..; 06-02-2007 at 09:22 PM. Reason: Notifying,. |

| Sorry to say then, but the other random sites and your friends article may well have had bad sources. I reacted a bit harshly because the Blood Angels are what drew me into 40K, particularly because of Sanguinius. Only reason I didn't jump on them is I didn't want to over-stretch myself. |

| Your Local Ori Prior ![]() ![]() | I discovered some grammatical and wording errors in one of the paragraphs and so i have edited them. It was more specifically the part about horus appointing sanguinius as the warmaster if he were to have died on Davin. I just fixed the wording a bit! ![]()

| The Curse of the Blood Angels has been attributed to a combination of the defects in the Legion's Omophagea gene-seed implant, and the psychic disturbance created during the final seconds of Sanguinius's life. Every Space Marine created from the gene-seed of Sanguinius was doomed to fall to the Curse, and in the ten-thousand year history of the Legion (and after the Second Founding, Chapters), only three Space Marines have managed to defeat the Curse (Chief Librarian Mephiston and Brother Rafen - both with the assistance of the Primarch, and the librarian Ashok of the later Angels Sanguine suppressed the black rage as well).
