BFG Imperial Fleet

I figured since i have a plague fleet, then the next logical step is to give the Imperium a fleet too.

I started putting together 4 cruisers and just finished the first one. Its a test piece. I always do one to see how it will look, then I do my assembly line routine. I'm ok with the paint job. I might add more highlights. I wanted to go with an Ultra Marines theme.

I would like some opinions before I start on the rest of the fleet.
This is an Overlord Class Battlecruiser.

i love BFG if it wasnt for BFG i would have been out of this hobby long ago
(whenever i was diasappointed with 40k BFG was there)
i try to get a game in when ever possible
to me its the ultimate in on the fly tactics
the battlefield never stops moving (you have to move your pices every turn)
no enemy wil be in the same spot in the next turn (exept space stations)
so you have to think ahead while still pating attention to what is happening NOW
all just rying to line up the perfect shots
from battleships, cruisers, escorts
fireing torpedos, weapon batteries, lances, and nova cannon ARH ARH ARH ARH
sorry i really like BFG
plus fighter and bombers
man what a game

I liked BFG too, but tactically I was awful. I had a Dark Eldar fleet and just could not figure out how to take advantage of my speed.

i never played DE
but they are similar to eldar kind of
those freaking holo fields
plus their movement and manueverability
very dangerous

From what I have seen, the Eldar can get behind slower captial ships quickly and really put a beating on them.

I have never played Eldar, but from what I see of the game, they are dangerous.

Have you guys ever tried some of the rule variants? I am going to try some of those out and see how they work.

my buddy and i have actually tweaked the rules
to play simultaneos
that is really interesting
its kind of how battle tech used to play
it is intense there is no time to think its just react
the game is still the same but its only 1 turn
we still use the same phases

I was thinking of doing this.
Dice off on initiative every round. (same as LoTR)
Phases are done at the same time. I move, you move / I shoot, you shoot.
For the shooting phase all shooting is considered simultaneous. (same as Star Fleet Battles)

It would add a different element I think. I never liked the traditional GW turn based system.

but we consider it all simulateos
we just LD of a ship as a initiative
lowest LD ships move first
giving the higher ld a slight tactical advantage
(like an admiral watching a battle umfold)
but all shooting is sumultaneos

i think ill suggest the way you described
just to give it a try

I guess my Avitar got the point across perfectly.

I like dicing off for initiative every round. That way you never know who will go first. We are also going to try 2 movement rules.
1) break movement down to squad by squad.
2) you go I go movement. Meaning you move your entire force then I move.

I like option 1 best, because you can react even if you go first. I will try this all out on Monday or Wednesday.
