Chaos, gonna get me some

Hello mates
I'm thinking of getting a 750 points of chaos to start with (warhammer40k) and i was wondering what allegiance should i go with (probably nurgle or khorne) what models should I buy for a nice army (cant get IW too expensive night lords maybe) I might get some nightlord paint them up and they go undivided but what units do i need?
heres my guess
termies
chaos lord
2 squads of normal marines'
1 havocs squad
1 dark apostle
1 defiler
5 bikes
maybe more than 750 points

Just as a note, that army doesn't conform to the FOC... you need at least 2 troop choices.

Honestly, I'd grab the CSM Codex and look over it real good. Meanwhile buy yourself a CSM box and go ahead and build it, working on what color scheme you want (and if you want to play a legion or something).

Personally, my army will have nurgle in it, but not the main thing...

not main thing as nurgle but i guess in that case 2 choices I will have raptors and normal squads added
damn the huron model looks pretty nice
and i definetly want a normal DP some time chaos looks like too much fun to paint :P i will have abaddon in my army as well hes a tough bastard

it does to conform to the FOC. and on a side note there is no dark apostle anymore and if you only want 750pt. the termies may be to much. i like the defiler though, if you buy a chaos megaforce you'll have more than enough points for your army. granted you'll have extra models, but when has that ever been bad...

Raptors. 5 man squad with 2 meltaguns and meltabombs will do wonders against armour. I'd say go with Nurgle, especially Death Guard. Tough as heck.

yeah don't use icons, use the army specific troops if you want to represent a god with your troop choices. i tried with both and i'm much more satisfied with specific units instead.

then do red corsairs. maybe bring a squad of plague or berzerkers for fun, the corsairs can have god specific troops. berzerkers are not just world eaters. all i was saying is I wouldn't waste points on many icons, maybe with termie's or bikes but otherwise i wouldn't. bring huron a few squads of basic marines, raptors, defiler. whatever that's why i love this game so many options.

Hmmm. I'd say at least 2 squads of Deathguard with your Cosairs. Wordbearers is right, I just don't like the Icons as much either. Good for Bikes and Raptors, which you can use to DS shooty Termies in with. Bikes with Icon of Nurgle are nasty my friend, trust me. I suggest a 7-8 man squad of Chosen with 3-4 Plasma guns and Heavy Bolter. Really good for Infiltrating just forward of you lines and laying down some fire on enemy infantry. Heck, 3 squads of Chosen would not be bad, because they are so versatile.

I have found 2 squads of Plague marines (toughness 5 and feel no pain ... ouch!) and a good squad of Khorne Termis is a great core to build around ... oh and make the termis all champions (5man squad with 1 Chain fist and the rest with power weapons/Ranged weapons to taste) and deliver them on the field with a land raider. Think of all the melee destruction Champion Khorne Terminators have. Attacks=4 attacks each base plus 1 for assaulting x5 man squad= MASSACRE!
Include Typhus (for the force weapon) and a Demon Prince of Nurgle with Wings, one tough sucker from the warp (ok I'm slanted toward Nurgle a bit) a Defiler and presto, you have a starting force which can take on a variety of foes. Now you can stick to those Corpse God worshippers!

This is one of many ways of doing a chaos list, I presonally like fluffy lists vs tourny lists. Which is why I probably dont win tournys and come away with players choice awards sometimes

All the chaos gods have something to offer your playing style ... now dont get me start with Thousand Sons and their AP3 bolters ... can you say toasted marines!!

since i dont lke the idea of a bloated thing as my daemon of nurgle, ill just make a normal daemon prince but with a plauge sword

Doesn't sound to bad... but very top heavy... I dislike the Termies in landraider thing because its so darn expesnive.

Honestly... my prefered core is a cheap HQ and a pair of squads in rhinos. From there you can add a predator or landraider for fire support, some termies or chosen (or both!), and whatever cult troops you want...

That is at least how I do things.

Actually My lists are usually troop heavy. I like fluffy army lists. I usually run 3-5 troops. My lists is as follows
2 units of Plague Marines
3 units of lesser demons
1 Typhus or Demon Prince
1 unit of Death Guard Termis
2 Dreads
with a good bunch of special weapons sprinkled in.

I usually play campaign style games and the lists tend to change from mission to mission. I always stick with the fluff behind the Death Guard and make my units in groups of 7 (The Number of Nurgle).

go with the death guard if you can get some good dice rolls, you could potentially have all of them survive the game

I would also suggest a squad of Oblits, especially with say, a 5 man bike squad with the Icon of Nurgle. DS the Oblits near the Icon after having them Turboboost towards heavy armour. 3 Multimeltas? POW! Tank problem solved.

ok im going to buy possessed and 5 termies with the money i have now (2 weeks of spare change 75 bucks yay me later i'll buy a defiler, termie lord, 20 normal marines 15 khorne 5 nurgle and a tank
