| Trooper ![]() | I've got a Vostroyan LT with a plasma pistol and it needs to become a Bolt Pistol. Also another Vostroyand LT with a Chainsword that needs to become a Power Sword. I've never done much converting with my IG and they are kinda nicely painted do I dont wanna mess em up too much. Any suggestions? Thanks! |

| The Omnissiah ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | So im guessing for the first guy with the plasma pistol, you will have to cut the plasma pistol off, but leave the hand and the pistol grip in his hand. Then remove the pistol grip from the bolt pistol, and glue the bolt pistol onto the hand. This is a similar method for the chainsword. Just cut off the chainsword, leaving the handle and his hand. Then cut the handle out of the powersword and glue it onto the hand.

| Really, for this sort of thing a sharp crafting knife or clippers will work fine, just make sure you file it afterwards. I remember doing this sort of thing with my Techmarine, replacing his bolter with a bolt pistol. Turned out fine.

| The Omnissiah ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Well, it depends. If you want to keep the Plasma pistol and powers sword in decent condition, I use a sharp crafting knife. This can be dangerous though!!! One slip of the knife and your down to the hospital.... Anyway, another method is to snip most of the weapons off with a those clippers. Then file off the remaining metal until you reach what you want to keep (e.g. the hand).

| A spot of green stuff can help cover any bit you missed when filing the parts. Just so your officer doesn't have a big V-shaped notch in the side of his sword.

| Replacing a chainsword for a power is really easy even on a metal model (provided you know what you're doing). Thats why I get so annoyed when people constantly use chainswords as power swords, even on plastic models! Its not that hard to replace!

| sometimes if the chainsword is inconviently positioned (like in the than vostroyan) i'll shave off the chain bits sharpen the edges slightly, and present it as a delicate saber/rapier style power sword- only really works with metal as you'd imagine. |

| Yeh, that would work fine. It's only the teeth of the blade that really make it a chainsword, I'm sure anyone would except that it would look like a power sword without them.

Blog Entries: 1 | just a quick note of clippers, make sure they are to flat bladed type as this makes the cut cleaner and easier to tidy up.

| one other thing, unless you like the smell of glue, make sure you drill and pin the replacement parts. Otherwise, they will be constantly coming off. Another thing you can try, Carefully cut off the Plasma Pistol with a razor or jewelers saw, drill the hand and the Bolt Pistol with a 1/16 drill bit and install a pair of rare earth magnets. Do the same thing with the Plasma pistol and you will be able to take either weapon as your game requirements change. There is a company called K&J magnetics that sells several different sizes of Noedymiun Magnets at reasonalble prices. If you have a fellow hobbyist to share the cost, they can b e quite cheap, especially in the smaller sizes. Just remember that you have to match the polarity of the magnets, so that you have a north-south combination. Likes repell, and you want to be sure that you have them glued in properly. My Space Marine Commander and Chaplain both have this treatment so that my commander has his choice of storm bolter, plama pistol, combi-melta, combi-plasma, combi-flamer, and Bolt pistol. The Chaplain only has a bolt pistol or plasma pistol. |

but yea, just lay the model down flat, put the blade where you want to cut and push down kind of hard. i think clippers won't give you as clean a cut either, but they are much easier on the hands :] good luck! :] -ant

| The Omnissiah ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I would recommend on of those self healing cutting mats. Way better than a cerial box, and they can be used repeatably, because they are, well... Self Healing.

| the age of insects ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | lol true, true. i just suggested cereal box cause it's more or less free with cereal..haha actually my self-healing mat is pretty torn up, but that's cause i'm a vicious cutter apparently...my design professor says that as well, alas...haha :] cutting mats are good too. basically anything that isn't too valuable and will protect your table :] -ant
