Draconic Hive Tyrant - 40K Terra

Well as my second custom (first is barney who is in the works...dont ask) i have started work on a dragon\hive tyrant mix. so far the feet\tail work great but the head needs to be remade and the Wings\Claws(Scything talons) need to be put on him. but here are some pictures for now. (ignore the head that was just a test)

Oooooohhhh Looking Ssseeexxxxyyyy!!! *insert whistle here*

Despite your lack of faith in the head (witch may or may not need some more work), that is looking pretty sweet. Can't wait to see it painted up all pretty like.

thanks lol, only problem is i need the high elf dragon WINGS for him

Sure thing... as for the wings I would either post a topic in the trade form, or check out bit kingdom. I know they don't have fantasy in stock, but if you email them they might be able to get you a set.

what an original idea

looks really cool but how do you get hit to stand up with all that metal so far forward? counter weight in the base?

getting the wings will be a serious pain in the ass alright. you could try one of the bits services that are floating about on the web.

Um Actually.....i haven't balanced it yet, but problem isent with the base its with the hole i drilled into the model its self its just a bit to large -.- so im hoping green stuff will fix the problem, if not i have to take it off the base and play Find a new rod

,how ever there will be lava rocks on the base under each foot so it looks like he is taking off.

er...its a third edition hive tyrant....it IS an old Alien mini

,its an over all really neat model except for the fact its SMALL unless you love green stuff like me! (and happen to pick up chaos dragon bits from a bitz swap), i should post the easiest custom ever done....posesed grey (now gold) knight!

I have a few sets of different wings from some older models i will look for them and see if they might work for you if ya want.Post the gold night up,I never say no to pics

Thanks and wish granted. he isent done yet but im liking the results so far, i need to blend his armor more and paint his wings\skulls\eyes....\top off the red cloth\finish the medals.. (if he comes out as good as im hoping im going to repaint my demons armor, or at least fix it since it looks really bad close up...stooped brush lines) hell affter looking at the pics i don't think it looks so good at all T_T (ya i forgot to add he needs highlights)

Not 100% sure i picked up a Grey knight missing his backpack and a pair of chaos marine wings and then insert spare time = Posesed Gre...er..gold knight

Looks good, I really like the idea of the Hive Tyrant/Dragon combo. Good start on it. I might suggest getting a heat gun, they are pretty cheap at most hobby stores, and bending the plastic parts to give movement. I can picture it with a whipping tail, etc. I might have to steal that idea as well. i really like the possibilities on it. Hope you dont mind...

I am really liking the idea of the Deamonic Gre...er...Gold Knight though... very cool. Come to think of it I do have some extra Grey Knight Termies lying around right now that might make pretty cool Tzeentch Termies pretty soon. Hmmmm I will have to ponder this.

i was thinking about a heat gun to but considering the plastic's detail with the scales it would be a bad idea, plus it might melt the whole damn thing (i tryed to heat it up already not a nice smell)

*Update* as an update on how this guy is going i cant do anymore work on him till i get my hands on some wings so in short don't expect him done any time soon unless i get really lucky.

TIP for the heat gun. 1. Use a heat gun, not a blow dryer

LOL
2. How do you thnk I got the balrog wings to curve in my WIP Deamon Prince(the one not painted).
3. Although you will heat up your finger half the time, keep the heat gun about 3" away from the mini at all times, and and use it in a left to right motion, until the tail starts to bend from gravity(it doesnt have to bend alot). Ive never had an issue so far. Also it depends on the size of your heat gun. I have a large one that you dont want any closer than4-5" and a small one with a directional nozzle that works great for 3". Always keep it moving, never stop and focus on one spot, thats when accidents happen.
