Blog Entries: 5 | to awnser your question, i had an eldar SH squad that had all of their wings in a similar patern, but with more colors (i used 5) and had their bases painted like blue sky with clouds. I really liked it, but others said it was too much. i'd say go like your going with just the 3 colors and it will look fine. |

Blog Entries: 1 | the wings look just fine to me mac, they're nice and clean, and the colours fit in perfectly with the rest of the mini, although the blending on the vanes that hold the feathers could be a bit smoother. and don't make me slap you again for false modesty! i've said before the the eldar range really shows off your skills as a painter and if i have to i'll set thekiller on you til you acknowledge it! (if i can ever find the slippery little blighter!)

The entire body was base coated in Necron Abyss then Regal Blue (you can just use Regal Blue but it will take a few coats to get a decent finish) The body suit was then painted in Ultramarines blue as were the armour plates making sure a thin line of Regal Blue was left at the recesses or edges The armour plates were then layered with Enchanted Blue into a 50/50 mix of Enchanted Blue/Ice Blue and into Ice Blue as a thin line just on the armour edge. I keep the mix nice and thin-plenty of water- and use many many layers rather than one thick one, then add just a little more of the lighter colour to the mix and continue then add a little more and so on-takes time but its worth it The yellow areas were painted Bubonic Brown to cover the Black and then Golden yellow thinned with yellow Wash (If Im thinning certain colours (mainly reds, yellows and black) I try to use an ink to thin rather than water so you dont loose colour) several coats of this and I started to use Sunburst Yellow then Bad moon Yellow to work the Highlights and a final touch of 50/50 Badmoon yellow/Skull White for the edge highlights Hope these help! | |
