| Here he is, the first model I have ever painted and liked. He still needs an ink wash, but i've never really understood those, or how to do them. A little touchup is needed too, with some stry gold, and the drybrushing is not quite as I liked it on the legs, but here he is. And yes, I know the pictures are less than stellar, but the shining gold just fubars the pics. Comments, suggestions, flames and all are welcome. |

| Yea.. So, thanks for the compliments, but now some questions: What color, if any should I wash it in ink with? Should I highlight the purple, and if so, any color suggestions? Someone suggested drybrushing the corpse flesh of the blaster and face of the dread a white or some other color, or washing it in black ink. Any suggestions there? Mainly... What can I do to make an apparently nice looking paintjob (which I am suprised at, I personally think it is horrible, but then again, I am a perfectionist and an EC player) even better? |

Blog Entries: 4 | A thinned brown wash on the Gold areas can give them more lustre (make them look richer). A thinned Black wash on the silver areas (especialy the back of the legs area) can help bring out the detail and stop them looking to "painted" Id be wary of trying to highlight purplr as it can end up looking pink (ARRRGH!) but you could add lowlights-dark ink or darkened purple round the outer edges/goldwork. be carefull about drybrushing bone as it can end up looking very chalky |

Blog Entries: 1 | definatly wash the gold, i suggest a 50/50 mix of brown ink and flesh wash or chestnut ink, mixed with an equil ammount of clean water. try this on the bone areas too followed by bleached bone and skull white highlights. note, highlight not drybrush. watered black for the metal areas works a treat. as for the purple, if you are at all artistic and good at freehand add a very small ammount of white to the liche purple and paint it on to resemble wailing faces, but i'd test your ability to do this on something else first, just to see if you like it. done well it'll look awesome!

| okay, here's my two cents worth then; 'stitch's all purpose general wash for most models!' chaos black + dark angels green + chestnut wash + flesh wash in the following mixture; 20/20/30/30 gives you a really good well-worn, dark and dirty look to your models! i've used this wash on my entire guard army, minus the guardsmen's skin...as for purple, well, i'd either try giving it a fiarly heavy chaos black wash and then highligh back up with lich purple, and/or mix in some warlock purple for adding some more extream highlights... hope this helps, cheers!

| As soon as funds recuperate (a few weeks) I will be doing an ink wash on the dread, but currently have none of the required inks. I am now using spare marines and vehicle spru bits to practice the moaning/screaming faces to paint onto the armor. Also realized I left off a smoke launcher, so I have to fix that! I'll be trying (as soon asd I get the inks) the methods mentioned here on marines that survived the Plastic Cement purge and my ugly old possessed, as well as left over vechila spru parts. Thanks for the advice guys and girl! |
