Default okay...what about getting "in the mood" ?

lol. thanks for all the responses to the black outlining post...more important though, how do you all motivate yourselves to paint? i always get all my paints out and stuff, and then get distracted and wander off doing something else...i've heard that painting while your friends are beside you painting works, but i don't see many of my 40k playing/painting friends often...any other suggestions ? lol

i usually throw on a favourite cd. this way, i want to listen to it all and to keep myself busy, i might as paint/convert something!

having upcoming events is also a good motivator too!

hope this helps,
cheers!

My personall rule is to never play a model until it is painted (which may be the reason so many of my models look so crappy). By not letting myself play with them until painted, it makes me get busy.
Also, there is so little stuff on Tv that I like, that I have little problem heading out to the garage, turning on a ballgame and putting the brushes to work.

Well, depending on the theme for my army, I watch a movie. Reading Eisenhorn has really gotten me really wanting to build and paint a rogue Inquisitor. I find music, or a good background movie helps. Also, as proved tonight, friends hefting huge miniatures catlogues with threats of beatings help!

Hmm, My motivation would be that I never field any unpainted models. If i do reush them, it only makes them look crap and then I feal I have wasted my money!

I just make sure I paint a few models a week, so that my all-black Eldar army is slowly getting some lovely colour! The important thing to do (I find) is only to paint when you want to,otherwise you never end up doing a good job.

If you ever get boared, or need motivation, just find some great pics on the net that other people have posted. Then, pop in a movie or cd, get some food and a drink, then sit down and paint every model until either the movies done or your neck is so cramped you can't move it with a crane.

For great, inspirational models, I would recommend this site: www.coolminiornot.com

I only paint when i get inspired, lately i seem to have misplaced my muse so im getting my gt ticket tomorrow so hopefully that will "inspire" me to paint my 140 strong empire army, ugh all that white and red... But music is a very good idea, make sure its upbeat though cause ive dozed off a few times and found my face suddenly turned shadow grey.
