Evening all

First of all, Hi, am Dark, first post here so be gentle

Iv been working on this fella for the last 3 weeks, he is around 75% done at the moment, am hoping to get him finished for the 28th, as my local GW is running a comp so, any large donations of caffine or sugar would be greatly appreciated

how he looked a week or so ago

and how he looks now!

cool looking conversion man! I really am impressed by the eagle on the shoulder guard.

and Welcome to Terra man! Post an introduction so we can get to know ya a little better!

Just be careful of the hairy one..you'll know who he is when he shows himself. And don't feed the stitch, she might just lurk from the shadows at any time so be careful!

Really nice. I've never seen GS work that smooth. And the eagle is great. Some self-proclaimed sculpting experts here will be annoyed.

i start off by using a 50/50 mix of GS and standard milliput, this is quite a soft mix which allows u to get really thin smooth layers. tool wise i use Colour/Clay Shapers with petroleum jelly. The shapers tip is silicone which wont stick and the PT jelly helps reduce friction alot (better than just water). Next i use standard extra fine sandpaper from my hardware store, i use that to shape the putty and get an even surface, then to finish it off i use super fine P2000 frit sandpaper, which will get u a nice shiny super smooth surface.

Now that's some serious GS (+ whatever else) magic here ! I'm always in awe towards someone with such conversion and creation skills, as mine are next to zero... Nice tuts on warhammer40k, very useful at least for me.

erm, to be honest if u follow the steps i outlined in my earlier post ull get a general idea of hot it works, then its a case of practise practise practise...

alrite guys update time!

iv managed to resolve the issue i had with hi left elbow, iv just made it really chunky and added a nice spike to it. the cloak am not entirely happy with, but am a little out of my depth with fabrics so it will have to do for this piece, still to add a fir trim at the bottom. backpack still needs alot of work, id like to make the central bit really chunky by adding a large turbine or somethin, not sure yet.
the base is another sticking point, considering painting the rock in obsidian colours to contrast with the purples and golds, with a banner of a loyalist legion draped on the steps, I also want the inscription 'Oh how my noble deeds are smeared with the blood of Heroes', some where on the base to really sell the loyalist turned traitor idea and the moral dilemma u get in the novels. although, i think i might be over complicating the base so iv also been considering these ideas but on a simple flat tiled floor to keep the emphasis on the mini, ill prob do some more drawing and see wot ideas everyone comes up with.
I also want to sculpt a partial eagle on his left shin and add some square studs on his other shin
