I'm just now looking at these and they look pretty damn good.

The only problem I can see is working a bit on your metallics and possibly toning the white in your flames down a bit in order to show more orange and yellow.....unless you wanted it that way of course to make it super hot? In that case you may want to get rid of the reds and yellows for blues.

Handmade bases eh? I may have to demand a tutorial... That sounds vicious as all get out!

I was told (Briefly) by Dave that it was simply a circle of green stuff with the lava sculpted out. I still think it looks far too complicated for one simple as me =\

I recently had some inspiration to add some character to my tank commanders. don't know exactly where its came from but alas, my first tank commander sits proud atop his tank with a power fist, I know, that there is little use at all for it putting it on him, but for me its purely visual display only. faces are my foe, i cant do eyes and mouths but this is the best i can do, enjoy

One from the front

and a bit to the side

and the rear

above his head

A close up of said head

His big green mean killing machine (I know about the gold spot)

And the closeup of the fist with the fix

Enjoy

Just one thing before i start prasing you Davidus:

don`t stick the camera so close to the mini even with macro turned on you should be no closer than a palm`s width close to your target

Now that that`s out the way.

Man i really like it

And the powerfist brings a whole new level to battle cheer

And your faces aren`t that bad, just don`t use such different shades for when you try to add character and form, but eyes are hard to do by default, don`t be hard on yourself :P

Use a graphic pen or something if you hand is too shakey with a brush

God damnit Dave I go away for five minutes and you outstrip me completely in models painted terms =\. The new Salamander looks fantastic and i agree completely with the Comments from Wakim and Warchild. The Power Fist really adds character to the model. And to the faces issue, You are not Alone...

A VERY thin flesh wash or (since salamanders are dark skinned) a slightly thicker chestnut/brown ink wash will help those faces. Splash the face a bit with the aforementioned wash, then go back and re-white the eyes... If you have problems with the pupil in the middle, try the very tip of a sewing needle. Works wonders

it might help to paint the eyes before you paint the face as it's slightly easier to paint carefully around the eyes than it is to try dotting in the pupils, you don't need as fine a level of brush control. you just need to be very careful when painting in the vacenity of the eyes.

EDIT: ah hell that makes no sense at all!
