| How big should I make my battlefield, what's typical and what's too big/small? I ask this because I'm setting up a pretty large table (5'3" x 2'7 1/2") in my room and I don't know if I should make the terrain as big as the table.

| Well I'm not building directly on the table. I'm putting I think either masonite or plywood on top and can easily make it wider. Problem is I have limited space in my room and already have to move stuff about to make fit. How wide should it be? Or long for that matter?

| My table is 4' x 6', but I can add 2' to the length to make a 4' x 8'. I normally make my terrain no bigger than 12" x 12" per piece, so you can put it where you want it, and not take up the whole tabletop.

| I'm not concerned with taking up the table top as I'm using it soley for the purpose of terrain, as I have desks and tables around my room for other things.

| Yes, but you want to be able to take the terrain off the table. When it comes time to play, you want to be able to alternate placing of terrain with your opponent. Don't cover the table with terrain and keep it there. Normally, I use enough terrain pieces to cover about half the table, so the other half is not "Difficult Terrain". Nobody wants to play on a table that is all difficult terrain.
