Blog Entries: 2 | I'll start off with my favorite brushes.... first up the citadel small drybrush. I really do like this brush. I'm finding myself using it more and more over all my other brushes for general painting. It's held up better than my other few brushes and I've found myself relying on it the most so far. second up are 2 spotter brushes I picked up at a local craft store. I've used these for my detail work over the citadel fine detail brush as I find the brush to stay more "intact" than my other brushes.

| Commissar of Spelling ![]() ![]() ![]() | I have a Dremel tool. In fact, I have 3. I have a corded single speed, a corded variable speed, and a cordless mini. I'll take the corded variable speed over the others any day. It has ball bearings (last much longer than the cheaper bronze bearing tool). I have burned up a bronze bearing tool in a few modeling sessions, but I've had my varible speed ball bearing Moto-tool for about ten years now. I'm on my 4th set of bearings, and that's why I like it. You can't change the bearings on a bronze bearing Moto-tool. I give the Dremel Brand Variable speed corded Moto-tool with Ball-Bearings a 10 out of 10. My next most favorite tool is the venerable No. 1 X-Acto knife, with #11 blades. Completely indispensable. Following that, the Xuron, or Model Master Sprue cutter. These cutters are the real deal. I can clip a part, and sometimes I don't have to trim the cut. They aren't cheap (about 14 bucks US) but they are a vital part of my modeling gear. That's enough for now. I have plenty of other tools. I'll post more later.

Blog Entries: 1 | Hmmm. Avoid the Citadel Hobby Drill. I spent $15 bucks on one, and only used it for a few months, and now the chuck is worn and I can't drill a straight hole with it. I only used the bits that came with it, and never overtighted it. In fact I babied the thing. I emailed GW about purchasing a replacement chuck, but that was a no go.

Blog Entries: 1 | I would much appreciate a new drill, Warchild. I'll send you my new adress in a day or two, and I'll try to find something to compensate you. Oh, and I know I've said this alot, but 1000 and 2000 grit automotive sandpaper. Gets rid of ugly mold lines like a dream. I use Plano tackle boxes for my bits, they are inexpensive and tough, but the drawback is no way to label them. I'll get a pic of them soon. Also, I have an Exacto knife (I recommend Fiskars blades though) that is all metal, and tends to slip, as my hands sweat a good deal. Anyone have a suggestion for a good, cheap knife that will reduce slippage? My fingers would thank you, lol.

Blog Entries: 2 | That reminds me...do the citadel files(or any file for that matter) ever lose their "edge"? Often after I remove mold lines or smooth out an area, I have a good bit of excess on the file, is there any way to clean them or just leave them be till they lose their "filing powers"?

| Trooper ![]() | Well, let's see. Brushes! I'm loving the Reaper Golden Talkon Series. Some of these brushes I've been using for over a year now and they're still in great condition! ![]() Of course, and important part of keeping them in good condition is taking good care of them. After a long painting session, I always make sure to clean and reshape all my brushes. For removing paint from the brush, this stuff works great! ![]() Then for reshaping, Pink Soap does wonders for keeping the bristles straight. ![]() That reminds me. Has anyone posted a brush cleaning tutorial? If not I'll try and write one up. |

Blog Entries: 1 | As far as files go, I got some Diamond Micro files from the Warstore, and they work wonders on metal. I think they cost me 12 bucks. Very good files, and small enough to reach almost anywhere.

Blog Entries: 7 | I got the same ones. there really good. i use them on both metal, and plastic. my only concern with them is that there kinda too small. I can see those with heavy hands may eventually break them. But out of 10 i give them a 8.

| Kriegsmeister ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Ohh just thought of this, Decals are nothing without Micro-Sol and Micro-Set. The red one (I think its sol) softens decals to conform to irregular surfaces and the blue one makes them set on flat areas better. I use both to get a pretty good finish and unless you look up real close you cant tell they are decals. BvL
