O i was just trying to crack a joke, you know by telling everyone to go to ebay they become competing buyers so i was just trying to make a funny and play it off like i was taking back what i had said "advantage wise" about ebay. But my first post was 100% on the money, those 3 buyers i mentioned are greater sellers, they communicate very well, and hell they even take custom orders. i like magus prime the best of the free because she doesnt charge shipping on ANYTHING.

You do have to learn the tricks of the trade tho, and the one fact that cant go unchecked is the fact that most bidding happens within 5 minutes of an items ending time and SOMETIMES within 30 seconds! You just have to be on top of whatever your gunning for. Speaking of that there is a 250$ citadel mega paint set up there right now starting at like 90 bucks. Id be all over it but im broke as a joke right now so goodluck to anyone that shoots at it.

Not all ebay cust serv is bad, and I think people are entitled to their opinions, and more importantly in this particular case, their preferences.

I see what you mean about the joke, woulda been funny cept I had trouble reading it. No offense meant.

(man I hate typing internet speech but I thought I'd try it)

I picked up a pin vise + drill bits for like $15, the Gamesworkshop one. I can't see the GF9 version being productive, what with the ball like thing. And the GW one is really sturdy and shiny and made of metal, although bits do break.

Also, I'd like to thank you Valiant- This thread needed a Ebay/Bartertown discussion. Thats GREAT info when you are just starting out, both are a good place to pick up crappily painted figures for gaming. Thats more important to a lot of people. There are a lot of other uses for these sites but thats the big one for newbies I'd say.

As for the pin vise, go to your Friendly Local Welding Supply Store. Even if it's Lowe's, the Home Depot, or Tractor Supply. They all sell pin vises, except they are called Tip Drills. I do a lot of welding, and I get my pin vises/tip drills from Lowe's. About $8, and you get 6-8 drill bits, ranging from .015" to .060". Much cheaper that GW, and it's usually a more sturdy pin vise. Normally, if there is a tool that is sold for modeling, you can get it from a non-modeling store at a much lower price.

Like Rhaal said its always better to hit the hardware store as the product is cheaper and stronger + Home Depot will take things that break back in a reasonable amount of time.
Plus keep a eye out around your local areas for hobby shows, i picked up some great deals there like my drill bits i got about 30 of about 6 sizes for around 10 bucks, and alot of diamond tipped dremele bits for hella cheap, its a great lace for bulk stuff also like xacto blades of all sorts.

I agree. We had a "show" at the local civic center a few months ago. Really a "sale". I bought a Second Hands Vise, with the clamps and magnifier for about 4 bucks. I also got an "el cheapo" airbrush for about 5 bucks. It ain't worth a flip, but the hose would cost at least 5 bucks as a replacement for my real airbrush. Needle files? 3 bucks for a set of ten. #11 X-acto blades? 5 bucks for a hundred. They won't last long, but the Local Hobby Shop charges $3 for ten blades. Shop around, folks. GW is not the only game in town.

My top tip for adding a bit of realism to your vehicles: Acupuncture needles for antennae! You should be able to blag some free samples pretty easy from any supplier (or indeed your local acupuncturist), just remember to clip the point off to avoid impaling yourself on them...

Here's an example:

If it is $$$ that you are trying to save on and you are a big 40K fan, I suggest an investment in earth magnets for a ll of your vehicle weapon variants. If you use the earth magnets for each of the weapons, you can switch them out each game depending on your opponent. In addition it is also great when playing in games for a weapon destroyed result, you can easily remove the damaged weapon.
