Default Tropical Scenery

Here is one for you guys.
I needed a tropical/overgrown scenery for a WFB game. Soooooooo here is a simple way to do it.

Start with a sheet of MDF board (its great because it doesnt warp easily)
Cut to desired shape and size. Then flock. I use 3M glue in the spraycan. It holds flock on a surface like nobody's business. I drove nails through the backside (I'll explain later)

Next cut up little points from plastic sprues which come with GW plant set and glue in place. Clear a little flock off so you can glue directly to wood surface.

Next glue the lichen in. Use a good amount of glue on the base so the stuff sticks and doesnt fall off later.

If you want it to be impassible or very dense, then add more lichen.

Cut up those GW plants to desired shape and size. I also used aquarium plastic plants, the varient is awesome for some of those more exotic looking plants. They look great and you get alot more for alot cheaper than the GW stuff. (isnt that always the case)

Begin gluing the plastic plants to those little pointy plastic pieces. They are there to anchor the plants in a little better.

Then add your trees. Remember those nails I drove through the back of the wood. Well, what do you think is holding the Trees in place. Those are home made trees. They are made out of bambo sticks, foliage clumps and LOTS of glue.

Then take a spray bottle and use a 50/50 mix of good old Elmers glue and water. Spray the entire piece heavily with mixture and let dry over night. The glue will dry and do three things for you.
1) Take away some of that glossy plastic look from your plants.
2) It will also give a little bit of a weathered look.
3) It will give a final layer of glue to hold everything together.

There you go. I did 10 of these bases in one weekend. Hope this helps somebody in the future.

Whenever I use any sort of spray glue I always clean it out just to be sure, b/c you dont want to end up with a screwed up bottle.

I usually clean the bottle out. One thing of note, once you clean the bottle out. Fill it with plain water and spray out the water to prevent the nozzle of the sprayer from clogging.

What I do with mine is take the nozzel out and spray hot water in/through it. why hot I dont know but i like hot. then I put a soda cap on my bottle to save my glue/water mix. it fits perfectly and no waste!!!

I have an old spray bottle from walmart but a 2 liter soda cap fits it perfectly. you may have to fiddle around and find on but they (soda) all seem to be pretty standard, IE 20OZ 1LTR 2LTR are all about the same sizes..

Well scrap....good question!

what I have seen before is a "flag" is posted in the terrain. A flag being a 6 inch stick/sprue glued to a base to represent a model. That way there is nothing to catch on the terrain and in game terms a model cannot be seen and targeted as it is just a stick. you now have a marker for movement and no chance of being a target in dense terrain. the long "stick" is so it is above the terrain for the most part and ease of moving.

I don't know if this is how HE does it but it is how i have seen....

The stands I posted here are the best representation of the work I did. I made 10 stands to represent different degrees of density. The one you see there is considered dense and not passable. Unless you have Wood Elves which cant ignore dense woods.
