Blog Entries: 1   |  1st Captain of the Terran Chapter Howdy people. Yes its true your very own Baron is going to do a WIP of Captain Mykol Keutmann of the Terran Chapter. Now I'm using the new all-plastic Chaos Terminator Lord as the model's base with little else significantly added from other sources. Now whilst I'm sure Hairy would love some pics he'll have to wait a while  Brought a selection of new files, green stuff, sculpting tool and clippers to aid me in this endeavour but I've reached a terrible impasse... the model is relatively expensive and he HAS to be good so I've gotten scared of actually doing more than carefully filing away the 'scars' from where it was attached to the sprue. On another note I've been practising with some White Tack (cheaper version of Blue Tac for all those people who know what that is) in getting a smooth covering of all the chaotic areas on the model and I'm sorta happy with how the chest piece ended up. *If anyone's wondering I decided to use White Tack first because it has the general consistency of well mixed Green Stuff without hardening or being as 'sticky' so its good to test how Green Stuff might look without potential to make grave errors.* After work tomorrow I'll post up some pics of the pre- and post- white tack coverings so you can comment on how well (or terribly) its doing the job... Blog Entries: 1 | well you know the stuff you would use to stick posters to walls if you couldn't use nails/tacks? It that sort of putty-esque substance- a block that would last for ages is about 99p (roughly $2) and is great if you want to dry-fit models before you bring out the glue. Ask one of the other Brits for a more comprehensive explanation if that was unclear.

First I'd like to defend the rough pictures your about to see by saying that the White Tack is an indicator of what I want to do with Green Stuff, its not as smooth as the eventual GS covering will be for 2 reasons: 1) White Tack doesn't harden like Green Stuff so its impossible to get a truly 'polished' finish with it 2)I didnt have the heart to make it perfect only to tear it off after the pictures were taken so it might seem a tad 'coarse' in its application. Chaotic Helmet I chose as base for the Cpt's head  then the removal of the horns and a quick file of the protruding areas to give an idea of what it should look like  The chest piece, legs and waist area untouched  back of the waist  close up of chest  Now the white tack is added:  definitely the lumpiest but Young Guns was on and I got distracted by that and my Border Collie attempting to gnaw my foot off at the ankle    As you can see I'll need to add a good deal of detail to the legs, chest and waist to tie in it in with the rest of the model- already got an idea what im going to add to the chest, the Imperial Eagle that comes with the Terminator boxed set (the one that can be added to the Sgt's back) with be trimmed and have one side sanded down so it lies as flush as possible. Also on a side note the spikes on the ring attached to chest piece will be removed or, in the case of the ones ornamented with skulls, carefully filed so it seems like its only skulls rising out of the pseudo hood

Blog Entries: 5 | i take it from the separated legs you will be truescaling. i'd recommend removing the feet as well and adding a spacer there. It is just me, but i think that Termie armor should have them towering. not just bulky. not bad on the white tack either. looks like my first GS Job

Blog Entries: 1 | proper true scaling will be unlikely- the legs come like that with the model so that your able to set it's pose more to your liking (whether striding forwards or standing on the plinth that comes with the mini). Depending on how it looks when i properly dry fit it I may attempt a very basic true scale but that's in the distant future- tomorrow im going to spend time finishing off the helmet, filing away all the mold lines and maybe if im not too tired beginning to file the areas that are going to be covered by GS so its got as smooth an area as possible to be spread over.

Blog Entries: 4 | you'd be better off filing down or sanding off the symbols IMO (especially on the tassests) though for the chest and legs, smoothing over with GS and sanding the bejaysus out of it might also work. As for the head, it honestly doesn't smack of imperial, perhaps the snarling lord head with some hair GS'd on or similar?

Blog Entries: 1 | well like I said (or not I cant remember) there still a fair bit of work to go, of course I welcome any suggestions and advice on how I can cover those damned chaotic symbols. (that wasn't a pun) @Ion Raptor I actually brought a box of Terminators at the same time as the lord for my knights and to provide the odd Imperial knick knack for the Commander (I have a fairly extensive bits box which I will be delving into). @Ides I really like the Knightly feel of the helmet (or at least the potential I can see within it), when I've gotten it properly filed and sanded (yes Im going to buy some very fine grained sand paper) hopefully it will look more like a ceremonial helm but if possible I'd like to add some sort of crest to make it seem more imperial. Hey Erus your the resident Celtic (and latin) scholar, and since the Grim (Black Shuck/Cŵn Annwn) originated in its relation to North Western European mythology (though it may have been Greek in its root legend) I was hoping you could give me some ideas of any sort of head wear utilised by the warrior class of the Celtic tribes.

In fact, they often went without, though they sometimes wore a braided leather headband called the hadroi (yes, this is where Robert Jorden got the Hadori idea for Malkier from, nearly everything about it holds true for the Celtic counterpart). So something like a braided headband if you were to do a face would work. Failing that, Celts use woad tattoes, or 'torques' to denote status and rank most often. Nothing really ceremonial warrior wise other than that.
