Default 6th Grand Company Emperors Children Chaos Space Marine Legion (W.I.P.)

Well, with more and more conversion ideas brewing... I though i'd start a blog, with some sort of promised weekly updates, so that way I would have some motivation to work on my models! First post is dedicated to just letting you guys know what I have planned, and what is done. Anything in italics is yet to be done. Also included will be links to the threads where pictures of my models will be posted.

-Terminator Pictures-
Pre-Heresy Terminators (Emperors Children style)

-Lord Commander Erus the Goldenhanded, Prince of Exseli-
1. Green stuff on wings from fantasy Azazels bits.
2. Obtain defiler mask for head. Review possibility, after a dry fit, of greenstuff/plasticarding a backing to it to make a seamless fit. ( http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/37574168/)
3. Search through, decide, and obtain a suitably non-khorne looking axe bit for dread axe.
4. Pry off and replace old tabbard with another one that has or can have the Slaanesh rune added onto it.
5. Buy Forgeworld bits, or decide upon suitable other bit, for eagles wing on shoulder ala Pre-Heresy Emperors Children Officers. Also, check on lead of Lord Commanders supposedly having two.
6. Track down 'slave bit' picture from Dark Elf range and obtain a few for base.
7. Obtain jewelers chain to draped Erus in, as well as plasticard and a hot knife to etch Slaanesh runes in to attach to the chain periodically.

1st Peritus Squad
1. Obtain defiler and sonic bits. Sorta done, need some more...
2. File off and Imperial regalia that is not suitable or excusable for Chaos.
3. Decide on head for Aspiring Champion. (Done. Here it is: http://store.us.games-workshop.com/s...1001&orignav=9. The mutated purple dude top center. May go with Lord of Slaanesh head)
4. Covert reaper auto, blast master, and sonic blasters combining Imperial and Chaos bits.
5. Decide on appropriate regular terminator head.
6. Decide on method for lightning claws on aspiring champion (Done. It was wrote on in a WD, specifically on a Khornate Terminator. Using Abbadons claws as fingers, with brass tubing and I had the possible idea of adding thin plasticard 'flanges' to make them looke more cruel, as well as serrations/barbs on certain fingers).
7. Green on a plasticard disc to cover up the fleur de lis on backs and fronts of shoulder pads
8. Obtain bits to get two officers wings for each front disc of the shoulder pads.
9. Affix actual blastmaster neck to heavy flamer base for a more 'blastmaster' feel.

9. Search for bits to add pre heresy 'flair'
10. Chaos bits to enhance the Chaosy-ness.
11. Learn how to green stuff banner. Create a suitably ornate and baroque banner bearer for Rapturous Standard.

2nd Percutio & 4th Arcus ('shooty' squads)

1. Develop conversion method for one handed sonic blasters.
2. Obtain mig wire or tubing to make 'handle' where hand is offed on sonic blaster
3. Replace and fix old models damaged by glue. (partially done)
4. Mod blastmasters for one handed(possibly)
5. Get one more tabbard for second squad.
6. Remake aspiring champion (NNNOOOO! Not the glue!)

-3rd Comminus, 5th Deprecor, and 8th Comicus-

1. Fix models damaged by glue.
2. Standardize heads in squads (glue damaged has forced me to sub in models from paint testers).
3. Re-do squads in pre-heresy armor styles (may not do)
4. Combine third option with running legs for a 'charging forward feel' on atleast 8th squad, if not all or one more squad.
5.

-7th Velox Squad-
1.http://grabski-jetbike.blogspot.com . 'Nuff said. Add some doom rider bits to the aspiring champion. Most bad ass bikers this side of the Eye.

-9th Gravius Telum-

1. Obtain 4x blastmasters and one more sonic blaster.
2. Get some classic range noise marine heads/Iron warriors bits for a more
bio-mechanical feel.
3. Use mig wire and guitar string to connect heads and mouths to sonic weaponry.

Thats all for now folks. So far, the 1st Peritus squad and Lord Commander Erus are the priorities, as I have enough bodies still in vaguely CSM shape to proxy for friendly games. 1st Peritus is waiting on sonic bits and for the aspiring champion bits as well as some more sonic weaponry. Updates will be submitted as I get them. First slated update to this thread is before pictures of all the army! Also, free more than free to submit any comments, suggestions, criticism, etc..

Intend to. The terminators are slated for their first bit of more work (turning out the rest of the squad minus the champion) on Wednesday. Then I will get about finalizing the aspiring champion. Another update on my conversion, add to the list my possessed..

-6th Phalanx Squad
1. Choose bits for squad makeup
2. Construct aspiring champion using Emperors Children torso, doom siren, and a Slaanesy head bit. Possibly Fantasy or Mordheim bit.
3. Use flayed one claws for daemonic talons.
4. Use the metal possessed back packs to make the squad stand out.
5. Mix of assorted mutation spru heads for regular squad members.
6. Construct appropriate rhino. Heavy on spikes. Consider using thin sheet of greenstuff and sculpting/molding wailing and moaning faces onto it, or something else to give it the appropriate look for a transport of a squad of possessed.
7. Possibly use running legs/posing affects to make them appear to be leapign and charging.
8. Acquire jewlers chain to give the illusion of the squad breaking free of restraints.

There they are, as of yet. Any comments on any of these fine squads and characters? The only conversion yet left is my sorcerer lieutenant... Completely at a loss of inspiration for him.

Hey.. Like I said, it will give me something to do in between when my fingers get itching for modeling! I too have heard of the UM librarian conversion. Might be an interesting idea. I thought of incorporating things to symbolize slaanesh somehow. Like, incense, slaves on his base, etc.. I'm browising coolminiornot currently, looking for inspiration, as no WD or any of my other GW stuff is doing much!

Currently researching the idea (bits and sculpt wise) of having him be a fallen Chaplain or Librarian pre-heresy. Since that fits the fluff for the units veterans and elites.

exept that in most traitor chapters the chaplains didnt turn to chaos and were killed. this was an exeption in the word bearers of course. i would make it from a librarian. is this going to be a pre-heresy models but chaos rules army? or normal SM rules. i dont think i caught that before =]

Most of it, and all if my fiancee dosen't strangle me for remaking squads, will be made fairly PH. I'm not going to be nazi enough to get down to knee pads, etc...(Yet). But the helmets, the chests, and such will be. So long as the one holding the bank card sees it fit to let me!

A update, some bits and conversions have been drawn. The idea is to use a PH style hlemet from the BT upgrade spru, with some extra bits (a book and center a flame over it on his back) the Champion of slaanesh head, lord of slaanesh sword, and most likely Ahrimans body. If anyone else can force their brains to compute that image, what do you think (the book idea I was thinking of is in the GW miniatures catalog, under their command conversions.).

Sword:

Head:

Body:
http://store.us.games-workshop.com/s...1601&orignav=9

Book/backpack icon:
Slaanesh icon: http://store.us.games-workshop.com/s...3907&orignav=9
Backpack:
http://store.us.games-workshop.com/s...1604&orignav=9

I now need to find an open book I can mount on my backpack and two flame type torches to mount on either side, or some such. The icon will be mounted directly between the two flames on the backpack, above the book. I will be doing a dry fit with blue tac to make sure it works first. So what do you think so far guys?

He dosen't have a familiar, but suddenly I do have some fairly nice ideas brewing. I need to get the money to order the bits first though. Tomorrow is a day off, so likely some work will be done on the terminators!

hmmmm... smallest 'open' book bit i know of is the plastic one off the old mordhiem acessories sprue... (i do have 1 laying around somewhere too!)

just to note, i do envision you having some problems trying to fit the fantasy slaanesh lord's head onto ahriman's body... that collar has very little room behind for the crest!

cheers!

Indeed. If so, I have a few aspiring champions left to make, so the head will do ok there. If it dosen't fit I plan on going with the champion of slaanesh, or something else, preferably helmeted!

Cool! What bit # is that?

------UPDATE-----

All infantry squads are now complete, and terminators are built enough for games (extra icons and bits are still forthcoming). The possessed are also all done except for flayed one claws which are done. Daemonettes are done as well.

So in short, what is yet to do:

Velox Squad(bikers), Lieutenant.

These are the only units in which they can not be represented on the table, and I could do the lieutenant. The bikers are currently on hold, as I am not sure I can monetarily justify the cost of the conversion right now.

So... I have about 2.5K + of EC awaiting the last of their brethren.

The shoulder pads are in! All my marines now only await their bits! I need classic noise weaponry (4 sonic blasters, 1 blastmaster), as well as the tall order for the lieutenant and bikers. I have begun some painting, mainly on my predator. As it comes along more, I will post more. Right now I am adding gold in, and trying not to overdo it. But I love goooold, cha know?

Gotta love gold! Just go easy on it every now and then...

Sounds like they're coming along well! How close do you think you are to finishing all of them?

The tank has just the turret and sponsons left, along with touchups. Most of my troops have varying armor parts painted liche purple, and some gold. Depending on if I feel like working on them tomorrow, I may very well have most of them done then, atleast the tank!

Haven't actually highlighted. I tried experimenting with it, and it came out far too artifical and contrived looking, no matter how I did it.

So, at this point, no highlighting!

hmmmm... well after painting up my 1st empire model and experimenting a bit with purple, try adding a bit of tenticle pink to lich purple.
if the highlights look a little too bright for your tastes, then after you're done, just apply another wash with watered down chaos black!

hmmmm... perhaps another colour to add to the 'how-to' list eh?!

hope this helps,
cheers!

One technique I intend to use later is what GW guys call hyper realism. Basically you just coat the model's armor plates with two coats of gloss varnish which catches any available light and gives the look of armour that has been polished to perfection...

Hmmm... I've got a few marines here that could be test painted to try that out... *trundles off in search of gloss*
