 |  Dans Eldar WIP ‘lo all. So its been a while since I’ve touched on my elder, but I finally got the last piece of my base elder army, a final dire avenger/serpent box and a fire prism. However, I am far from finished this army, and ill keep you all updated. Here’s the list of what I have. Finished: Wave Serpent #1 with twin scatter lasers Falcon with pulse laser, bright lance Vyper with scatter laser Painted but not based 5 fire dragons, exarch with firepike 5 howling banshees, exarch with mirrorswords 9 dire avengers, exarch with two avenger shuriken catapults Built Wave serpent with twin scatter lasers 13 dire avengers, 2 exarchs with two avenger shuriken catapults 9 jetbikes with shuriken catapults, 3 with shuriken catapults 2 vypers with starcannons Farseet on jetbike Unbuilt (still in shrinkwrap  ) 5 dire avengers wave serpent #3 Fire prism So I built the autarch on jetbike custom, before the wind rider host came out. Check out the tutorial I wrote for it in the STC manufactorum! The farseer, however, I built using the autarch on jetbike pieces in the wind rider host box. I also used pieces from the Eldrad blister. All I did was a head swap (not so simple when you want to get the ghost helm intact, and on eldrad the back half is touching his robe!) and I used the witchblade, though im considering upgrading him to a singing spear. However, can he cast spells and use the singing spear in the same turn? He is going to be with the jetbikes, and I would rather him Guide the squad or Doom their target then simply have another couple attacks. I think the re-rolls would be more efficient then just the spear. Im also considering getting some harlequins, and leaning towards it cause theyre just awesome in almost any situation. Im not going to have a set list for these guys, but I AM going to have set builds (IE, im always going to take the fire dragon squad with the exarch w/ firepike, and stick them in the falcon w/ bright lance. That’s just ANY tanks worst nightmare right there.) Theyre only going to be run in a 2k list. That…brings me to a mini-rant. So I was in games workshop @ Arundal Mills, and im in line (there was a line…for once…but anyway) as im standing there, the manager, who was behind the counter, comes out and looks at the stuff I have. He turns back around and grabs a Cloudstrike apocalypse box, and says that I should get it. It’s 3 falcons for $90, and I would save $30, almost enough for another one (yea, ok) I decline, saying I want a small elder list. He gets this weird expression on his face, like he ate something bitter. He said that was silly, that im “seriously limiting yourself!” “You wont be able to play apocalypse! And theres no such thing as a small 40k army!” Now no offense Wolfpack, but I beg to differ. I want my elder small. That’s the whole point of them. I don’t like the big, hard to handle armies. The small skirmishes are what make the wars. But I digress! “that’s stupid. I already have 4k of world eaters, 2k tyranids, and 4500 points of space marines and sisters of battle. I want a small army. Plus, apocalypse sucks! Every time ive played apocalypse here (at the games workshop. And im talking to the manager) its been terrible! We only get in two, three turns max and usually im blown up by all sorts of stupid little kids whove parents buy them baneblades that are falling apart (ive had this rant before, remember?) while all of my models, that ive spent a lot of time on, are wasted. Plus, im magnetizing all of the turrets so I can have my tanks (3 serpents, falcon, prism, +3 vypers!) be interchangeable with their weapons” he just says “that’s just more pieces to lose” and walks away when I get to the redshirt cashier, whose actually worked there for about a year and a half and Ive gotten to know him, he says “he just wants you to buy more stuff” I couldn’t agree more >.< But im going to magnetize all of the tanks weapons so I can deal with any situation. I don’t think I will with the wave serpents, ill stick them with scatter lasers and maybe missle launchers on the last one I build. However, the vipers are going to be between scatter lasers, starcannons, and maybe bright lances. My friend gave me a Fire Prism main gun, so im going to magnitize the turret of the falcon so its interchangeable between falcon/prism. The other prism will stay a prism. Honestly though, im probrobly going to stick with the falcon most of the time. As I said, dragons+falcon is one of the best tank busters in the GAME So yea, ill be posting pics of the stuff ive built, get your suggestions/comments on how theyre painted n stuff, and post army lists [against various opponents (MEQ, mech tau)] HARLIES YES OR NO!

Blog Entries: 1  | way to stick to your guns there Dan. its your army not his so if he wants more he can buy it. and if he really want you to have more tell him that if he buys it for you, then you'll build it and play it!!!!  i've done that to one guy who tried to harrass me for building my army slowly. haven't heard another peep out of him since!!ref the farseer. if his psychic power goes off in the shooting phase then no he cant "throw" the spear. one or the other. however he can still use it in assault if you want. and i'm another eagerly awaiting pics.

| yes, but the falcon i did before cause i ran out of spray paint and wanted to do it anyway. i know theres still some spots where you can see the gray, but its not finished the autarch just has that little thing on the bottem thats gray...

| i actually, come to think on it, havnt really primed any of my eldar. but here is an aspect warrior wave. the metal guys i did actually prime, but not with spray paint.  for the banshees and fire dragons i inked them using watered down colors and painted over the still-wet model to have some of the bottom color come through the top. if you do this technique you wanna use a darker color on the bottom (for shadows, ect. and it just looks better) the banshees, for example, i used very watered bestial brown, with bleached bone over that. i think these guys could use another bone coat...  & exarch  the fire dragons i used a blood red/blazing orange mix, with sunburst orange over that. for their weapons, and the dire avengers weapons as well, i drybrushed gray over chaos black.  im really happy with how the exarch came out  dire avenger squad #1   exarch  oh...yea....by the way.... i completely forgot about my shining spears. way to go. theyre not done at all, just the two base colors down on them.  i need to touch up the freehand squad symbols on there. for all of these guys, theres going to be touch ups because i got some new, smaller brushes that are much better then the toothpick >.< eyes, jewels, aspect symbols, ect will all be picked out to much more detail.

| Re: Dans Eldar WIP so today the magnets arrived for the tanks....started workin with em. went good, but a problem arrived. but first,, making the interchangable turrent- not too difficult  however....the fire prism main cannon. the front of it is very heavy compared to the rest. now, this is a problem because the front of it inevitably drops down. what could i do to fix this? a counterweight on the back? that would probrobly work, but might make it too heavy for the magnet. more powerful magnets? that might work also, as the stronger pull would counter the front weight, and if it doesnt then the counter weight on the back in addition would. and with the stronger magnet it fixes the problem with that anyway... but for now, i have an unpainted, yet interchangable, falcon and fire prism. i still need to order the secondary laser for the fire prism (generator/projector found here) i also finished the shining spears.  theyre the normal blue/white scheme, however spirit stones are purple, and the smaller gems on the bikes themselves are orange. thats to tie them in with the other craftworld forces. all of my aspect warriors are going to have something like that to tie them in (besides the fire dragons, who dont need it anyway....freakin in flames already) i took some individual pictures of the spears but the flash made them suck...gotta find a way to turn it off...

Blog Entries: 1 | Re: Dans Eldar WIP on your prisim cannon place it on the turret where you want it and measure how far from the bottom (about 1/2 to 3/4 inch from where the magnet is to the front) to the turret top. the drill a small hole and glue in a small paperclip that sticks out the length you need. paint it black and it wont be too noticable and will hold your cannon up.

| Re: Dans Eldar WIP ok! so lotsa stuff done the vypers have all been magnetized! three vypers, each able to choose from a scatter laser (anti infantry) starcannon (anti MEQ) or bright lance (anti tank)  im learning the lesson of magnetizing very well. EVERYTHING must have the same pole! that means ALL tanks are one way, ALL weapons are the other. the problem with the ones i have is that...they arent labled! so i have to put the glue down, referance the magnet, then put it down the right way. then when its placed put the model somewhere so that the magnet isnt close to another one and the magnet is ripped off, with glue on it, so that it glues to another magnet!!! that happened once today, but i was able to get it off before it set. and thanks alot Griplion for the paper clip tip. it works well! i put it on both sides of the turret, to make sure the other metal piece wouldnt slide around also.  so my heavy support tanks are now interchangable!   i know the falcons guns look skewed, but thats cause of an odd picture angle. awesome....now for more dire avengers, wave serpent, and then teh paints.

| Re: Dans Eldar WIP ok, so another update. the final wave serpent/avengers box has been built. so now my finish painting list is: 6 banshees 6 dragons falcon/prism #1 10 dire avengers the START painting list is: 2 wave serpents 20 dire avengers 12 jetbikes farseer on jetbike 2 vypers interchangable weapons-5 bright lances, 3 scatter lasers, 3 starcannons, 2 prism cannons, 2 pulse lasers, 2 prism generators. i guess the good things about eldar is that you build up a good force fairly quickly!
